Resorts Owned
Tafer, Solaz
I just purchased one week at Solaz, Los Cabos, through Trade Cabo. I think I got a great deal and was very happy with the service. At times, communication is a little sparse, but ultimately they get the job done. They know the area (Los Cabos) and have good insights.

Is this a plug for Trade Cabo or are you planning to give more details on the unit and why you think it is a good deal?

The resort is nice and all that, but the mandatory AI via exchange is a no go for me.

First of all, I am a novice; and before I purchased this timeshare, there was some mention that this company might not be legit. I just had a successful transaction with them, and am happy with the service. This is not some kind of plug, just my experience. The math, on the week I purchased, worked for me. Perhaps, it wouldn't work for other timeshare seekers. The terms are on Redweek if you want to check it out. It shows as pending. As far as AI via exchange; sorry but I have no idea what that means.

I'm sorry, but I didn't see any on RW listed as pending. I did see a 2BR Floating high season as sold with a listed price of $11,999

Yes, I see it. It shows pending. @HudsHut that is a different timeshare.

I also see a two bedroom for considerably lower price but higher MF of $2313 compared to the $1351 of the one bedroom. . I am presuming you didn't want two bedrooms, or one week in a one bedroom and one week in a studio as the two bedrooms are lock off capable.
In any case, did you ever attend a presentation at this resort? If yes, what was the bottom price they offered. Since you are new, you should know that the sales people usually start out with some ridiculous prices. When you stand up to leave, suddenly tens of thousands magically disappear from the price.
I am asking this because RTUs from many resorts in Mexico tend to strip some benefits from the original owner when they are sold on the resale market. If I am willing to pay 9k for a one bedroom, I will go to the resort and see what kind of deal I can get. Even if it is the same price, might get one or two freebies thrown in or at least retain original owner status. That status may have some benefits depending on the system.
Just my two cents based on people's comments and my experience during visits to two resorts close by.
But if you have done your homework and are sure you got a good deal, congratulations and happy vacationing!

I did not attend a presentation at Solaz. Maybe I will, next time I go. I don't have much family, so the smaller units (lower fees) appeal to me. Maybe, I will consider bigger units with the lockoff option, in the future. I bought Tafer points originally, from the resort. When they tried to sell me more points, they balked at what I was willing to pay. The Tafer contract does offer some perks, though (as the original owner). At Solaz I have 17 weeks. I don't think I could have gotten this deal had I gone directly to them. I might be wrong. Thanks for the tips, as I am learning the ropes.
