towers on the grove

We were there about 2 years ago. Really liked the resort but you have to have the understanding that the rooms have a really weird layout. Wyndham did not build this resort and the layout has guests walking thru bedroom to get to the living room - was not a problem if you have family and do not really worry about privacy. But this is only on some - not all of the 2 bedrooms. So you have to know what kind of room assigned to but we had a great stay for a family reunion Also in May is the bike week so there were alot of motorcycles ( not sure which week it was)

Short walk to grocery store (maybe a block) and just a little bit further is a ice cream palor.

Again it was a nice resort with a lazy riverlllll but there is also a smaller pool under shade for the younger ones Parking is in garage across the street. Not hard to cross the street as this is the quieter end of myrtle beach

Enjoy you stay

To be honest with you......we hated this place. We did an extra vacation there in November 2014. VV813 is correct. WYNDHAM bought this old place and tried to convert it to WYNDHAM standards. However, as an RCI exchanger you get the most terrible rooms they have. We were to have a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom unit that sleeps 8. There were only 3 of us and seriously there was hardly room in there for us to move around. The dinning table basically was in a hallway that was made when they converted the rooms. When sitting on the sofa in the living room you could literally almost touch the TV mounted on the wall. There was a sofa and 2 end tables land lamps period in the living room area. No other chair for someone to sit on. If a person wanted to sit down they had to use a hard dinning room chair. There was little room to store luggage and there was no closets in the bedrooms....just an separate cabinet with doors. This place has the poorest excuse for a 2 bedroom I have ever seen. There were cutlery only for 6 people. How in the world did they expect 8 people to function in that unit is beyond me. Of course we COMPLAINED a loudly to the manager and of course the blame game began. He blamed RCI and RCI when contacted blamed WYNDHAM. Even on our confirmation it states "the resort reserves the right to assign a different unit of the same size and occupancy as the unit confirmed above". However, the manager WOULD NOT assign us a different unit saying that this is what RCI gave them to assign. It was off season and there were many many other rooms available. It went on and on until we just gave up and tried to survive the week. :wall:You will not get a unit that looks like the picture on RCI and you will be looking out your window at the parking lot across the street. Having said all that you will love Myrtle Beach. There is something for everyone in this city.....beautiful beach, shopping, live shows, comedy, boardwalks, great restaurants ( try The Bistro....located in a little strip mall near 17th street....they have a special everyday and the owner literally catches the catch of the day ), did I mention shopping! I would call the resort and ask which type of room you will be assigned. The beds are vary comfortable and the linens are nice. North MBABANE is our preferred location. If you at all can change your resort however I would recommend you do.

I would definitely go back here with the understanding that the rooms are not all the same. I would call the resort and find out what type of room you are assigned to so that you really are not surprised when you get there and it is what you expect. I really did not have a bad experience and my family wants to go back.

www.towersresort.com has a layout of what the floor plan layout of the rooms are. I was able to get a feel for what they had. I hope that this helps.

Visited Towers on the Grove last September. It's rather quiet around the hotel, but like others have said, grocery store and other amenities are close enough to walk to.

Sales staff was pretty high pressure during the "Owners update" but just walk out after your minimum required time and you should be okay. I think we got $75 for Greg Norman's steakhouse (which was very good).

Pool is under shade, but the location in terms of the beach is great. You can rent chairs from the hut on the beach.

Room setup was a little weird (walk through bedroom to get to living room/balcony, but since it was just my wife and I it was fine.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would go back.

Great location. Near Harolds on the Beach by the ocean. I found it a little dark. I'm not there to stay in the room. You are near main street Ocean Drive. For a good breakfast or homecooked meats & veggies for lunch at Hoskins. It's a dive but been there snce 1949!! Lots of great beach music clubs on main street. shaggy

RE: towers on grove reservation

we are planning a trip to tower on the grove need to know about property, parking , and things to do

We own at Ocean Blvd but frequently stay at TOG by choice! It's a smaller resort which we enjoy and very convenient to grocery (which has a great "buffet" and deli). Try the breakfast place that is in easy walking distance, too. (Can't remember name.... maybe Atlantis?) Beach is beautiful in this area.... within walking distance of a pier. Our favorite room when it's just 2 of us is the 1 BR/ocean view. A small balcony off the bedroom is ocean view and the larger balcony off the living area is street view. Do look at the link provided in a previous comment to see the various floorplans. TOG actually was not an "old" resort when Wyndham purchased it. It was brand new but was completed just as the real estate market crashed. The developers couldn't get buyers for the units so Wyndham bought it and successfully sold them in their point system. A few units are owned by individuals and can be rented through NMB rental companies... these were units that had been purchased by individuals prior to Wyndham taking over. The previous poster that was so unhappy had a 2 bedroom that is on the street side and is the only type units in the building with no balcony. Enjoy your trip!
