Totally confused HGV Max Preferred vs Elite

We have purchased several contracts at Hilton Hawaiian Village. The last one we bought was a small contract and we thought we were told this would take us into the level that included benefits including the use of the blue wrist bands. We thought we were told this would put us into the Elite level but now I realize that’s not true. I think I understand now that we are in the HGV Max system instead (Preferred) and that the Elite category and benefits has and will never apply to us. I think we were confused because a friend that we often travel with to Waikiki has been an Elite member for some time.
Does anyone know what benefits, if any, someone with HGV Max Preferred is offered at HHV? It may be on the website but I couldn’t find that information. We owned Disney Vacation Club for over 20 years before selling this year and I understood that perfectly. HGVC or HGV Max or whatever it is now is totally confusing to me.

You are correct. There are Max Tiers, that include Preferred, and then there is the HGVClub Legacy Elite program. Since you are in Max, you won't be in the elite program. When you log into your HGV account, go to the menu that has the club rules and you will see a HGV Max option. In that option, you can see the benefits by Max Tier

Your latest purchase must have been made on or after April 1, 2022. Purchases made after then have no option, must go into the Max program. The benefit that you will probably enjoy the most is no booking fees, so you can book any length of 3 to 6 days most places, less than that at west 57 for no booking fee. You would have had to be at the elite premier level in the legacy program for that benefit. Yes, you do get the blue wristband at your level in max.

You know at this point I’ve had my HGVC timeshares for 22 years. Even the ones I bought from the developer were so cheap by today standards that if I walked away from the program I would have gotten my money’s worth years ago.

I’m not buying into any new programs they come up with up. It will only cost a ton of money and will provide me with NO additional benefit. Other than HGVC Flamingo I own where I want to go. I’m good, now get the h-ll off my lawn.
