Hi who on Tugs have had no Problem getting timesharing resorts in Italy? What is your resort name or Vacation club is good for Europe booking? I am not talking popular months just in general off peak is fine.

I bought into one timeshare and one Vacation club Lifestyle. Both say I can book any part of Italy with no problem. Both were lies. Naturally both are affiliated with RCI. RCI rents most popular cities in Italy so you almost never get an exchange. I was in Italy and was able to get one of four popular city in Italy on an exchange. Capri, the other I exchange was about an hour or two away from Rome, Florence. Venice I could have booked as an exchange but only stayed two nights and it was just cheaper doing a hotel.

I remember Lifestyle show me a book with Marriot hotel in Rome but they show me I think a Worldhotel book to mislead me. Lifestyle VC said I have to book years out to get popular Italy destination. Lifestyle you have to call an agent to book, you can't see what available online and book. They suck.

My timeshare I have to go thru RCI.

Marriott is not with RCI - they are affiliated with Interval International.

I moved your post to Exchanging.

Just so you know, it's "TUG"

Thanks Denise, You can book Marriott with Interval international? Isn't RCI a better exchange company? I know they are more money hungry. I think at one time Vacation village has II they show it on their management web site. Probably the old Bonaventure in Weston. With the Mizner Place or my Lifestyle vacation club I was not able to join II. Joe

You can potentially exchange into Marriott through Interval International. Most Marriott resorts are not affiliated with RCI. If a resort is not affiliated with RCI, then you have no option to use it for the exchange.

Do you have an Ongoing Search set up?

I recommend that you enter every property in which you are interested, for all dates you would accept.

RCI will email you when there is a match. You'll have 24 hours to have the unit on hold and, if you confirm, you still have 24 more hours more to cancel.

If you later change your mind, you can alter your search criteria with other properties & dates, or cancel and get your exchange fee refunded.

It is difficult to find an exchange in Italy (and most of Europe). Many of the resorts are in ski areas, not in the major cities. Most of the units are studios or hotels. And most of the properties are not rated gold or silver crown.

yeah I am going to try the Ongoing search. My daughter getting married in October 2015 as soon as they can make up there minds where they want to go I will try this. She said he wants to go to Capri again but still undecided. I am anxious to see how great RCI ongoing search is. With booking with RCI one thing for sure you better know your going, because you don't get your cancellation refund back (cash) just the credits. They suck.

That ongoing TS request feature online is nice with RCI. Does anyone know if you can do that with II, giving them a request and getting notification online?
I have done both with II the old school formal written requests with them and onine searches ,but do not see that ability available?

Dial an Exchange now has an office in Italy, and lately, they have had a good bit of inventory in southern Italy, and a fair amount in two parts of northern Italy. They have even had a number of weeks from two different resorts in Venice, which is usually a hard to get trade.

Of course, I am a member through the European office, and the US office does not always see everything that we European members see.

DAE will take most deposits, and trades on a week for week basis.

Yes - II has ongoing request, and yes, you can put the request in, on their website.

yeah I was just thinking that. I should see if Europe has an RCI. Maybe there is more Inventory for Exchanges in popular cities not Northern places. Which are a dime a dozen on RCI.
