After 40+ years of T/S ownership, I am no longer "an owner"
For those not following along on the Wyndham Certified Exit page, I have successfully navigated through the process and no longer own ANY timeshares. This after being a very happy and well traveled owner of timeshares for more than 40 years. Someone asked about my screenname and whether I'd cease being Timeshare Von. I think I'll keep it, and will continue to participate here on TUG especially since I still hope to use timeshares as a desired means to travel. I just won't be owning any interest in them as I continue to enjoy my retirement and travel via other means (camping & cruising are at the top of the list). In the meantime, I will have the use of my former points for the next 3 years (through March 31, 2028) so I'll continue to contribute resort reviews, etc.

I have loved being a member of this TUG community, as well as the former Fairfield/Wyndham Yahoo group(s). I have made some friendships along the way and hope to continue those while making new ones too. I already have a private rental scheduled for June 2026 in Ireland . . . and may have others to plan for.

It's truly a Happy New Year!

You will always be Timeshare Von to me (your rental contract is the one I use, so thank you for that).

Maybe you should ask Brian to change your name to Cruisin' Von?

Is Wyndham still taking back timeshares if you have no loan? My SIL has a Wyndham timeshare that they are thinking of getting rid of.

Yes! Please stay! We have one timeshare week but it’s just an hour from our house so we keep it just for the change of pace! Lol!

But I don’t feel like a timeshare owner.

She should call Wyndham to inquire about what she specifically owns.

Yes, please stay. The timeshare topics have become a very small part of the reason for me to stay also. Long ago the lounge topics become the real reason for me to stay, Zenni for eyeglasses was the top tip gained but others experiences with challenging things also gives reason to stay and their experiences provide perspective for me.

Congratulations! We are down to one timeshare and I know you will enjoy staying there next year!
And we appreciate you're making it available to us. Hubby & sister both retire in May 2026 so that trip will be a great celebration!

Oh gee . . . sorry for the scare. I'm doing great and loving retirement!
I'm glad you are OK, lol. The title does sound a bit ominous . Congrats on getting rid of that timeshare.

Wyndham points (Limited Edition expires 2023)
Timeshare Von--I am in a similar situation as I used up my free 3 years of Wyndham exit points a year ago. I have switched more to taking cruises in my retirement, but am open to renting here like you have posted. I seldom post but do enjoy logging in to the "Lounge" so I think you will enjoy the freedom to continue. (I remember you from the Yahoo group--I think I had remarked there one time about you having fixed weeks instead of points at one time?) Best regards, Gene

Hey! You can't leave! Who would I have to compare notes with, about other ways to get around?? I sold my last timeshare more than two years ago, and I'm still here all the time. You know way too much to walk away from all of this. Tug needs you!

Who needs to own a timeshare? My last trip was three weeks in Italy and Greece, with a week on a cruise ship. My next trip is another cruise, on a four-masted tall ship in Central America. In May I'm renting a timeshare at Yellowstone from a Tugger. In October I'm renting a timeshare in Hawaii from another Tugger.

Stick around!! We like you. We really like you. ;)

Dave, timeshare-free but just as addicted as ever...

I agree, change your thread title to "Timeshare Von has no more timeshares"

Timeshare Brett now just rents timeshares - (and Airbnb)

I suggest keeping your name and stick around! For me, my (late) wife and I gave up our Wyndham timeshares probably 15 years ago during the Great Recession. More like they "foreclosed" on it, then took it to auction. In terms of my username, I no longer drive trucks, but that's been my username here and my e-mail name for 22 years, so it's not changing.

Must say I’ve rented timeshares even when owning our Smuggs timeshare. It’s a good way to go.

My favs were in Estes Park through the resort and West Yellowstone through the owner years ago.

We’re renting one through Vacasa in June in Stowe, VT.
