Hi

My aunt is gifting me her timeshare at the Marriott Surf Club in Aruba. Does anyone know how to complete the transfer or a company who does not charge an arm and a leg. There is no money transferring. She is in possession of her certificate.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Contact Marriott for the transfer form. You and your aunt fill out all information and check the box where it says gift. There will be a $250 administrative fee from Marriott to change the deed into your name. Just mail the form in with the check and should take less than 30 days to complete the transfer. I gifted a Phuket Beach Club Gold week to a friend in 2015. Process was easy.

@vol_90, you are saying that the entire transfer can be handled within Marriott. No external company needed, correct?

I’m pretty sure if it’s a gift to a family member you don’t need a closing company. Aruba is RTU, from what I hear it’s super easy.

Correct. All one needs to do is contact the Marriott Owner Modifications Department. There are 2 documents. An External Transfer Form and a Credit Card Payment Authorization Form for a $250 payment for administration fee for the transfer of ownership. The External Transfer Form has a section asking Is this transfer a "sale" or a "gift" and asking relationship between Transferor and Transferee. For the OP simply write Relative (Aunt) and Gift in the 2 sections.

If anyone wants to gift an Aruba Surf Club or Ocean Club week I'll be happy to pay the $250 transfer fee.... :)
