As we prepare for our next timeshare vacation to Hillcrest Resort in Ogunquit, Maine, my hubbie and I started reminiscing about our previous timeshare vacations - which one was the best, the not so good, etc. I went through all my journals and put together a log of our timeshare travels. I thought it would be interesting to share if anyone has something similar. For the most part we have thoroughly enjoyed our timeshare experiences! (sorry I did this in Excel and din't copy too well)..

No, I haven't done this; but I liked looking at yours!

It was nice to see the resorts and what you personally thought about them. I've been to a couple of them and concur with your ratings. I'm booked for OKW Disney, so I found that helpful. And there were potential future exchanges to some resorts I've seen available in the past and I found that interesting and helpful.

We loved Marriott Cypress Harbor----I rated it higher than 8.5.

Enjoyed Hillcrest

We were at Hillcrest a couple of years ago. For one of the oldest timeshares in the country it has aged well. Loved the location. Have fun.

Hillcrest Condos in Ogunquit are wonderful despite the fact that it has been POURING rain all week. We loved Smuggler's Notch - we had a brand new 3BR condo that slept 10. I guess the thing we liked best was the huge list of activites. Bluebeard's Castle was the worst travel experience we have ever had. I don't want to open up a can of worms as our review is posted. Sorry I don't mean to offend any owners but we actually traveled with owners and they felt the exact same way. Anyway, my post wasn't about that. ANyone else have a samilar list of places they have been and how you rated them?

I like your list and you appear to be people who can be happy pretty much anywhere on vacation. Sure, an occasional clunker, but I bet you make the most of it. And you can rate any way you please, because everyone has different standards.

I'm surprised that Disney's OKW and HH came in with under 9 scores. What was wrong with them in your estimation? Especially the 7.5 for HH? We absolutely love that resort. I love being in the marshland and looking at the sunset over the canals and watching the animals and the birds from that oversized balcony.

In response to the ratings of the Disney resorts...We have teenagers, and while we had a very nice time in Hilton Head, we thought they could have had more actiivities. Most were geared towards very small children and there really weren't that many. So we thought it was kinda' boring especially if the weather did not cooperate. The number of activites that they had at Disney Hilton head did not compare with what they had at say, Smuggler's Notch. And we traded with II so I think we had to pay some sort of additional fee for the Disney name. We looked at the Mariott's at Hilton Head and liked the fact that they were on the beach. But of course this is only our opinion. Old Key West was nice too. The unit was very large but again they kind of nickel & dimed us - charging the additional fee of around $100 bucka, internet, etc. We thought it was very nice but not significantly nicer than the other resorts we have stayed at in Orlando such as Orange Lake, Mariott, Hilton Vacation Club (we gave this one to family but stayed ofr a couple of days so I didn't list that one). It's all good, though!

See post # 12 where I went back and added values. But to those specific resorts I'll be a bit more specific.

Residences at The Crane : You will love the place as long as you don't get assigned to building #2. The AC in that building doesn't work correctly and you really don't get any cross winds either. So if you get assigned to #3 or higher or visit during months when you don't need the AC, you will absolutely love the place. Gorgeous pool complex. And they charge by the hour for the AC. I understand that the elevator to the beach is completed which will make access much better for those of us with bad knees.

DIVI ST Croix : The TS part is small. great beach area. We really like this one and would go back in a heartbeat. TS units are accross the street and up a small slope. Some people complained about that but we found that it helped make it more quiet. Not a 5 star, but nice, clean, and good bedding.

Sandyport Beach : Not real happy with this one. Access to the beach is not real close. Pool adequate. The unit we were in had a lot of maintenance issues. Would not go back there.

Playa Naco Resort : HORRIBLE. THE WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER STAYED. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GO THERE !!!!!!

Thanks for your comments about four resorts.
About Dominican Republic, I have heard negative comments from other people.

I have never been to DIVI at ST Croix but I would agree with your 9 rating of Morritt's Grand Resort at Grand Cayman. We enjoyed that place too except of course for its remote location which restricts opportunities for dining, etc.

We have been to many other T/S resorts not on your list. Looking forward to enjoying HGVC in Orlando starting this Saturday. Second week in Naples, Fl.

Let me clarify, my negative comments were just about Playa Naco, not the Dominican Republic. I am sure that there are other fine resorts, just don't go to Playa Naco.

As to Morritt's, I used to own there. Great place to visit, but never, never buy there. In my opinion it's crooked. You need a car if staying on east end of Cayman.
