Time for Another Kauai Trip

Today we went for a round of mini golf at Kauai Mini Golf. Then we had to go to Longs so we went to Chicken in a Barrel for an early dinner. 🤙🏻

You know, there is a great hike that starts from behind the mini golf.

Yes, we have done that one. The area by the damn is beautiful. We told a couple about the hike and they were going after they finished mini golf.

No hiking for us on this trip. Kim was barely able to get some golf in. Her hip is bothering her. Maybe golf again tomorrow but we'll see. 🤙🏻

Sorry to hear about her hip, but it’s good to see her up and golfing.

She took a night time pain reliever last night and had he best nights sleep here. So that's good news.

Is painting reliever the same thing as paint remover? ;)

Those pills helped Kim last night. She got a good night's sleep and feels less pain. So much so that she booked us a 12:48pm tee time at Waialua Golf course this time. We liked this one better only because we weren't as rushed. It's a beautiful course too. 🤙🏻

Aloha, @slip , @DeniseM & other Kauai experts: which resorts on the island (exchangeable via DeX/Hilton) are ok & you would recommend: ? Point at Poipu, Makai Club or Hanalei Bay resort?
(never been to island of Kauai; been to BI & Maui many times).
Mahalo!

Aloha

I have been coming to Kauai for years but a little less now that we live on Molokai.

We own at the Pono Kai in Kapaa and that has been the only place we have stayed so I'm not much help there. When I was traveling between the islands for work, I always stayed in hotels so again not much help, sorry.🤙🏻

Out of those 3, we've only stayed at Point at Poipu, and I have a favorable recommendation for P@P. It helps that it's located on my favorite part of the island to stay. HBR is on our list for a future visit (and we'll stay there through DeX). @artringwald has been to P@P many times and returns annually so I'm sure he can provide insight as well.

Hanalei Bay is our favorite resort on Kauai followed closely by Shearwater. It has an onsite restaurant and you can walk down to the beach in front of the Princeville Hotel ( it may have a new name now, it seems to keep changing). The pool and hottubs are nice and they have quite a few tennis courts. Views of Bali Hai are amazing.

Point at Poipu is a very nice resort. We enjoyed it but just prefer Princeville area. I have not stayed at the Makai Club but I don't think you get ocean views and it is an older resort.

Well Kim's phone went out this morning so we spent a couple hours getting new phones. We both upgraded, it's been quite a few years. So we have been making adjustments on them all day. The only issue I'm having is getting back into my Hotmail account. Hopefully this weekend.

Tonight we finally went to Kintaro. We have wanted to go for years and we were going to go the year they burned down. All in all everything was excellent. Nice service and the food came pretty quick. It was crowded right away too.

The long flights back home to Molokai tomorrow. Lol

We had some breakfast and are waiting at the gate in Lihue now. We were able to get everything we wanted to done so it was a successful vacation. Flights between islands have been all completely full according to the announcements. Ours looks like it will at least be close to full.🤙🏻

Safe travels and thanks for the trip report.

Lunch is completed now and we just have to wait for our last flight. We board in about 20 minutes. Mokulele isn't too crowded on Maui. Lol

Another busy day. Wifey Baby had to have a Steak Egg and Cheese Bagel from McDonald's since they are back and we were here. So we took that on the way to golfing.

We went to Kukuiolono Golf course. It's much nicer than Molokai's course but much busier too. We got paired with a solo. She was on island helping her daughter that just had a baby. She was very nice and golfer about the same as us.

We got there at 9am and there was a line up and we always had to wait for the people. Ahead of us and the people behind us were waiting. I'm sure it was like that for everyone. No one complained so it was fine.

Kim was using her new grip as instructed and she had some really nice hits. She definitely is getting more distance. I did right what I usually get in Molokai. I had a 47 on nine holes. It was fun and the course was in good shape and the greens were fast. Much faster that Molokai's.

It $15 for nine holes, $15 for a gas cart and $10 for my club rentals. Kim had hers. So $55 for both of us with a cart. Good deal. I would have taken some pictures but we had to keep it moving.

Paco's Tacos is upstairs from the club house so we stopped there for lunch. It was very good. We have had good luck with all the locations on Kauai.

After that I wanted to ride out to WWVH. That's the NIST Shortwave radio station just past Kekaka. It was in the military base so we couldn't go in but I was able to get some pictures of some signs and Antennas.

Now we're back at the condo and we're ready to head down to the hottub for a bit. So far so good for our big city vacation. Lol

In the San Diego area where I used to live (Escondido) until January, I could typically hear WWV (Fort Collins, Co.) on 10.000 MHz (plus 5, 15, and 20 MHz. etc.) but occasionally would also hear WWVH and very occasionally only hear WWVH.

Just the opposite for me. 🤙🏻

Thanks for a wonderful report. I felt as I went with you and Kim and enjoyed Kauai. Mahalo 🌺🐠🌊

We stopped and got groceries on our way home so now we have everything unpacked and we are relaxing. Nothing planned for the rest of the weekend. 🤙🏻
