It seems there is a 30 second amount of time required between reporting posts. WIth the rash of scam posts today, it kind of limited the ability to report them. I can understand a limit between posting to the forum, but it seems odd to have a minimum amount of time between reporting posts.

And they are still actively posting. Can't those usernames be blocked?

Yea, almost all posts are these scam/SPAM posts (that don't really seem to actually be doing anything but polluting the TUG forums ...)

What I do is ignore the user after I report the post. Thus I know which ones haven't been reported. At least not reported by me.

Really seems like they have infiltrated. Admins must not be online this morning

I think the Admins have been removing reported posts, they just can't catch all the new ones and probably remove them after they are reported. That said, I have noticed in the past that sometimes posts reported in the AM do take a little while to be removed. Now that I ignore all the posters after I report their threads, I stop seeing how long it takes the posts to be removed.

Angry salesperson, maybe?

thankfully once a user gets flagged, all their posts get removed at the same time when an admin marks their account as spam. admins dont get email alerts for that though, so wed have to be logged in to see our alert that someone has reported one etc. also it keeps track of spam/banned users so they cant reregister again.

No these folks are using multiple online sources to flood the internet with incorrect contact information then online searches direct folks to incorrect numbers and/or websites.

My main issue is the limitation of being able to report posts close together. It seems one has to wait 30 seconds between reporting posts.

Fun day for TUG admins! My sympathies to you all...

finally saw one tonight, that is certainly a new strategy...who in their right mind would call a number in a post like that?

Right? I can't figure out the strategy or point of these.

just had a ton of them come in again, ive taken a bit more aggressive action to curb some of the more common things posted in them to see if it will prevent more.

the number of spam registrations that are getting by the stopforumspam and recaptcha features of xenforo are wild....more than 150 yesterday alone.

added a bunch of new spam filter triggers for new users, already had over a dozen registrations flagged for it. wild

I don't know all the XF settings or how smart these bots are. Do you change the challenge question for registration? What about a more complex challenge:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Multiply the number of Ts in each of the following words, and then add one. Tugbbs x Marriott.

Enter the total: [______________________]

Or something similar that could be routinely updated.

there are about two dozen different random questions asked at registration.

log shows more than 40 spam registrations in the past hour. averaging about 1 a minute.

seems like the sort of person whod get upset at a website focused on helping timeshare owners is the same sort of person who would attempt something like this. though i doubt its anything that nefarious. we had a huge issue with spam registrations on the fb page months back that required us to take action there too. spammers never sleep!

at least there is a silver lining in that the changes made to detect and prevent these spam posts will benefit the forum moving forward!

I am glad that you finally saw some. Yesterday morning was wild. We were getting hit every few minutes for several hours. This morning has been so bad, so far anyway.
