Has anybody had experience with Thrifty Car Rental at Albuquerque Airport? I would appreciate any comments, good or bad. Thanks much!

I don't but I was considering trying them this trip, but I stuck with Avis. All I know is that all of the rental cars are in the same area and there is one shuttle out to the site. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Not there... But Thrifty's agency in Vegas tried to screw me once. They were out of the size I'd reserved and offered an alternative which we accepted. They handed us a "scratch and dent" card to fill out, but it was night and the lot was dark. We parked by the office, marked it up and turned it in, keeping a copy.

After we returned home, they called to claim damages. I replied "not on your life," but contacted my insurance and CC companies for coverage. The copy that we kept resulted in Thrifty-corporate apologizing and sending us coupons for our "trouble." -- We never used them.

I'm not saying that one should avoid Thrifty -- their agency in Florence, Italy, was no problem -- but one should be careful to note the condition of your vehicle and keep all documents whenever you rent a car.

I just used Budget in Albuquerque. We did the off airport site. It cost $20 to get there by cab, but the rental rate was several hundred less for a week, and we could return the car to the airport.

We've used Thrifty at Albuquerque Airport on many occasions over the years on business trips there. Never a problem, but you do have to take a shuttle from the airport to the car rental facility that is just 5 -10 minutes away. They usually are very efficiant and I've never had any problem with any claims of damage, etc. That said, I agree you should make a thorough inspection of the vehicle and mark down any dings, scratches, etc before you leave the lot. Directions out of and back to the rental facility are well marked and its easy to access from I-25 or other locations in Albuquerque. I did not know that rental fees were cheaper in town than at the airport. Will keep that in mind in for future personal travel there.

Thanks for all the responses! I was just wondering as Thrifty just lowered their prices and is cheaper by about $60 for my dates (end of January). (Advantage is the cheapest but they have many poor reviews - also why I don't want to bid on Priceline this time.) I already had Enterprise booked but am thinking I will change. Thanks again!
