I am beyond irritated at this.
My insurance company offers rides to medical appointments.
I have two appointments this week, and haven’t been able to drive because of surgery on my right hand.
I decided to take advantage of this option.
I got to the doctors office in plenty of time.
The trouble was getting home.
No one would pick me up, and it took almost an hour to find that out.
Then after another thirty minutes, they called to say someone would pick me up within one hour.
Did you know that cabs IMG_0781.jpegonly drive within city limits.
Apparently, Lyft doesn’t exist out here.
I had to call my daughter, who found someone to come get me.
I cancelled the ride for later in the week too, one way rides are no fun.

That's a bummer.

You could have held their feet to the fire and said "Fine, send a medical transport as you have stranded me out here or my next call is to a television station."

Unbelievable! So sorry you had to go through that.

WOW that's terrible.

When Dad was still alive, Mom had issues with having the Lyft/Uber drivers finding them in a hospital complex for the return home. Communicating through the insurance company phone line to the driver was nearly impossible. Then once Dad was gone and she’d try to use the service alone to the doctor’s office, the drivers would stop in front of the house on our uphill street and she’d have to hobble down the moderate incline of the driveway and try to get in the back of an often SUV while the door was trying to close on her because of the street incline. Not workable at all!

Just horrible! Feel bad for you to have to go through that!

After using Lyft for the first time in South Dakota I swore to never use them or Uber again.

We (or rather my daughter) use Lyft a lot when traveling. Mostly in San Francisco, but also in NYC when we can't find a cab. Also used it in Boston earlier this year. Never had any major problems. The only thing that seems to happen is that the driver ends up across the street from where we actually are.

Do you have a senior citizen ride share program in your area?

They maybe able to assist with medical transportation to and from your doctors appointments.

Can you provide them with the doctors appointments dates in advance ?
Good Luck.

Please check your senior citizen programs in your area?

No we do not have a ride share program
You do understand this was a one time event, and I definitely will never use it again.

I think it’s probably ok in urban areas, but not in more rural ones.

In our area, the city and county offer a disabled or wheelchair-bound door-to-door service. The catch is that you need to be ready to go 1 hour before the appointment and prepared to wait up to 1 hour after you're done for return, and it may be a shared ride. But it's it's only $3 each way.

This is it!
I was able to shift and will drive to my appointment tomorrow, get this stitches out, hopefully will be able to do all the tasks I have been unable to do for the past couple weeks.
