I just received an e-mail that had a "recent-stay" survey for my July 4th Myrtle Beach unit. It was in fact moreso a thinly veiled Marriott points survey. More than half the questions were about the new points program.

Things like
did you enroll?
do you plan on enrolling?
What's your impression of the new program?
provide 3 words that describe new points program ( I put I'm - not- interested as my three words)

I get the sense that Marriott is getting alot of bad feedback. why else would they resort to such a survey tactic.

YA THINK?
wish they would send me a survey.

If they asked you directly if you joined the points program or to give them three words, I don't think it's thinly veiled. It seems to me it's right out there.

Why not ask owners who just left a resort. If you didn't go the a presentation, now maybe your interested due to the questions and want more information. If you did go, then they want to know your opinion. Owners who have recently stayed at a Marriott with a sales staff are the best prospects for gathering opinions after the presentation.

They always do surveys after an MVCI resort stay (at least for a sample of guests). This is nothing new. And they change the survey periodically to get feedback on the hot current topics. So I would expect a points oriented survey this year after going to a resort. Standard Operating Procedure.

I know they aren't new, I've taken many, however I don't see this approach as SOP, as I've never seen them ask questions other than regarding your recent stay.

Did you attend a points presentation? I would think they would survey those who are owners and have attended a presentation.

I don't think so, Heidi. They promoted with phone messages and literature for the Tuesday meeting on 'the exciting new points program' at Manor Club for the two recent weeks I was there and less than 20 people attended each time.

Yet, at the same place in other years I've gone to their 'What to do in Williamsburg' meetings and they was standing room only. There just didn't seem to be much interest in the points meeting. At the one wine - cheese tasting meeting I went to, it was full. So wine outdraws points in my survey. :) There were more people in the pool than getting all the misinformation on points...and it was a small pool.

There was no registration at the points meetings, except for the 1 or 2 people who signed up for a sales pitch. I haven't had a survey email yet but it's less than a week ago that I was there. If it comes I'll give them answers they don't want to see no doubt.

I have had many surveys after stays and I think every one of them dealt with other issues in addition to my stay. My stays have all been in Hawaii, Las Vegas and Florida.

Just came back from two weeks at Cypress Harbour, they were doing everything they could to get people to sign up while there...$100 Disney dollars, etc.

I passed. I don't want to consume 90 minutes of my vacation time listening to someone talk about something that I can read about in more detail right here on TUG!
