My family and I have been vacationing in Edisto for the last 10 years. There have been many changes over the years but still a wonderful place to get away from everything. If you plan on eating out - go before 9pm. Everything shuts down after 9. I recommend Dockside's if you like Prime Rib. It's some of the best that I've ever had. Their seafood dinners are just okay. Nothing fancy. The Old Post Office is a must also. Kinda of pricey but the food is outstanding. If you want to just stay home and cook it yourself - go to Bell's Bouy Seafood. They have everything that you can imagine as far as fresh seafood. Fresh Tuna, Wahoo, Grouper, Shrimp, Crabs, Clams, Oysters etc. Also Mrs. Bell has pre-made seafood casseroles with the cooking directions right on the top. Homemade Blueberry pies and much more.
If you have kids take them to the Edisto State Park but stop by "The Pig"(Piggy Wiggle is the grocery store)and buy peanuts in the shell. At the State Park you can feed the deer and racoon's. They come right up to you. My five year old loves this. Also visit Charleston if you can. It takes a whole day to see everything there. Haunted Ghost trails - older kids love it. Sorry to be so long but we love Edisto and I'm sure that you will too.
