When checking out of Ocean Pointe Sunday I asked about my bonus rewards for my stay as I'm Lifetime Platinum. It turns out they had the wrong number so I gave them my correct number. When I looked at my account today (4 days later) there is the 7 day stay registered but no points. I generally don't look at my account but ya'll have made me think I should be more vigilant about checking.

Should I give it a little more time? Should I call since they did not tell me up front that I was getting the bonus points (all hotels do that when I check in and ask if I want the points or the gift)? I know the rules state if they're not offered I can get a monetary reward. Is it fair for me to claim it when the incorrect MR number was on file (that's a first and I have no idea how that happened as it should have automatically appeared).

Thanks in advance!

We had a cash stay just after Christmas and everything but the Arrival Gift Bonus points posted. I called the Plat elite number and they fixed it with no problem; the points posted overnight after that call.

There wasn't an issue with our number, though, and I wasn't looking for the cash reward, don't know how easily our issue would have been fixed if either of those was in play. Plus, according to flyertalk, you can't ask for the cash reward unless you do that at the front desk prior to checking out?

If that is the case, then I'm too nice. I hate to make a fuss about myself with others. Stupid, I know.

If the hotel/resort does not offer you the Platinum Arrival Gift at check-in, then you are entitled to cash compensation but only if you ask for it sometime during your stay before you check out. The Gifts - and cash rewards when they've not offered - differ according to the rules:

(from marriott.com)
- Guaranteed Platinum Arrival Gift is available at all participating Marriott hotel brands. See below for Platinum Arrival Gift options by brand:

JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels, Marriott Hotels & Resorts
500 bonus points or Food & Beverage amenity

Courtyard (U.S. & Canada), SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn
200 bonus points or Food & Beverage amenity

AC Hotels, Courtyard (outside U.S. & Canada)
250 bonus points or Food & Beverage amenity

Fairfield Inn & Suites, TownePlace Suites
200 bonus points or Food & Beverage amenity

Marriott Vacation Club
500 bonus points

EDITION
500 bonus points or 250 air miles

- If guarantee is not met, guest compensation applies (see below):

JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels, Marriott Hotels & Resorts
$100 USD

Courtyard (U.S. & Canada), SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn
$50 USD

AC Hotels, Courtyard (outside U.S. & Canada)
$50 USD

Fairfield Inn & Suites, TownePlace Suites
$25 USD

Marriott Vacation Club
$100 USD

EDITION
n/a

Where either MR Points or something else is available, they are supposed to ask you which you would prefer. In addition to catching the clerks who don't offer the Gift at all, Flyertalkers love to catch clerks who don't ask your choice and just give you one or the other. With the timeshares that's not an issue because the Gift isn't an either/or option, it's only Points.

Thanks Sue, I'm going to wait a day or two and see what happens in my on-line account. I'll let everyone know what happens.

Do you still have all the receipts?

If you would like you can PM me. I have the email adress and telephone number of a Marriott staff member who sorted out a similar problem for me last year with no fuss - and I am only a lowly silver member.
