These Are the Most Visited Tourist Attractions in the World

I feel very fortunate. Going through the entire list of 50 in the link, DW and I have visited 80-90% of them. I've seen some she hasn't and she's visited some I've missed.

Oddly, the popular sites we've only visited in a limited way are all the Disney offerings. We've been to Anaheim and Orlando multiple times, but in going to Tokyo, or Paris, or Hong Kong, there is absolutely NO WAY we'd take the time to visit a Disney amusement park.

So many places, so little time.

Does the "most visited" coincide with anyone's list of "the best?" Not minet, but YMMV.

Not for me.

I've only done 15 of their 50. I can't believe all of the individual Disney parks (even parks within a park location) count separately. That was a waste of about 10 spots on their list, but whatever. Disney probably paid for "the list" to be compiled.

I'm sorta glad that some of the places that would be on my "the best" list will never be on the "most visited" because they simply don't allow it. Denali National Park in Alaska is one such example.

Churchill, Manitoba for polar bear viewing is another.

In fact, for many of those places on the "most visited" list, that is almost a reason for me to never want to go there!

p.s. It's sort of unfair to list a transit location like Washington Union Station. I mean really, if you're traveling the east coast by train or just into DC, it's a necessary evil.

It said "Most Visited." That means "Busy" and "Crowded" to me. So anything Disney fits right in with that. :D

I counted 23 of the 50 that I've seen. I guess my plan to avoid crowds needs to be evaluated. ;)

I agree Dave. I was thinking about how they listed all of the parks at Disney World, as an example . . . Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM, etc. They should all be JUST ONE in my opinion. But whatever, it's their list, they can do what they want. :)

I agree with this. How long should it take for Minneapolis- St. Paul, Atlanta Hartsfield, JFK, LAX, and Heathrow airports to loin the 'Most Visited' list. Those places are hardly the high-water marks for defining one's travel experiences.

Maybe because you need separate tickets to see each of those places, and you can visit one without visiting the others? I agree, though - it's a skewed list.

I will continue to venture on the road less traveled.
