These 11 States Are Seeing the Worst COVID Surges Right Now

As you look over the list, note that the states are being ranked by the percentage increase and not the current volume of cases. For example Maine is listed as the second worst state and Pennsylvania as the fifth worst, but they each currently have 3 new cases per 100,000 people over the last seven days. That compares with Florida (ranked third) with 30 cases per 100,000 or Arizona (ranked eleventh, least severe if you follow their listing order) with 15 cases per 100,000.

Of the states listed, Florida (30 cases per day) and Alaska (23 cases per day) currently have the highest outbreaks.

Using the Johns Hopkin measure (as reported in the Washington Post) here are the current top eleven states with regard to the number of cases reported per 100,000 over the last seven days. (Yes, I am aware that there is a discrepancy with regard to Florida. In either case, the number is not good. Also, consider the inclusion of the Virgin Islands as a bonus listing.)

Florida3639%
Missouri3334%
Louisiana3367%
Virgin Islands32154%
Arkansas29-10%
Nevada259%
Alaska23234%
Mississippi22107%
Alabama2181%
Oklahoma19101%
Utah18-4%
Arizona17113%

Wisconsin isn’t on the list but they just showed on TV thousands of people outside the Buck’s stadium standing shoulder to shoulder. I didn’t see one mask so they may be moving up the ranking in a week or two.

I am in Wisconsin. I don’t see Masks on anyone when I go shopping, which is my only inside activity. I have decided to wear a mask even though I am vaccinated The one time we ate out, man in next booth sneezed repeatedly
