The worlds first stramp!

Looks steep for ramp specifications here in the USA
Cool idea

Probably ,,,
I hate to say it
Looks like a lawsuit waiting to happen

Pretty sure the incline is not up to code, a wheelchair could roll off the edge, people could trip on lone steps....

Actually, the "stramp" shown was built in the 1970s and is located at Robson Square in downtown Vancouver. It was built before either US ADA or Canadian National Building Code accessibility standards were set. It is a "grandfathered", non-compliant ramp and there has been some controversy about it as a result.

Wow I didnt know that. Someone had fw it to me and I hadn't seen it. Thx.

This "stramp" is 40 years old and the article was published in 2019. The lawsuit is about how to address the "stamp" to bring it into compliance with the modern ADA regulations . IMO.,

IMHO, they should should just put in a chair lift on one side, regardless of the aesthetics.

The stramp was built over 40 years ago. The current discussion is about how to bring it into compliance with current building codes in Canada and accessibility standards in British Columbia. Because the steps are part of a public square and is an iconic architectural structure, the government has been reluctant to do anything, beyond some signage.

Not sure there is any lawsuit. Some activists have suggested using the courts to enforce action, although the stramp is grandfathered from current rules, because it pre-dates them. In any case, the ADA does not apply. That is American legislation and therefore has no jurisdiction in Canada. We have our own rules here.

I'll bet that you have your own currency, too.... just like an actual foreign country.
