our salesman was out of the office last week and apparently got our cancellation notice and called us today.. asking us all sorts of questions. I said to my honey that let's ask him a question and see if he can match the prices that we have found. we aren't going to give him our info. of course he tried to ask what websites we found the info and tried to convince us that we were losing benefits, that to us were NOT worth 30K..

have any of your salemens matched your offer?

Not going to happen - they may offer you more incentive SPs. They are just looking at lost commision.

They know these prices are out there - and what resales are going for. SVO has a ROFR so they have to know what the resale prices and any person with a computer can find these prices on-line.

Just tell them you found TUG... they will leave you alone.

When they tell us that our OF Dlx unit is worth ~$86K - and I ask them them why don't they excercise their ROFR for ~$50K, and then resale them - they just look at me with a blank stare. I can get excused from an Owners Update pretty quickly...

I bought developer so I probably can't talk much, but the owner's updates are pretty comical. Our guy asked if we were gamblers. We said no. He said we must be because WPORV is a ticking time bomb waiting for another hurricane to blow it into the ocean. That was his attempt to add to our ownership portfolio with a week on Maui.

Because Maui doesn't have hurricanes...??? Because WKORV is at ocean-level while WPORV is not...??? I am sure SVO Corp would have love to hear one of their TS salesman spouting such garbage.

Yeah, I thought it was funny how willing they were to throw another Starwood property under the bus to make a sale. I'm pretty sure they eat their own young.

he called again

love this he said he'd call back and wanted to know our websites. so what does he do leaves a message that he was on redweek.com and myresortnetwork ! ha the ones that I went on, but what he does is only read over the phone the properties that were selling for 35K a year for biannual .. which yes is more than his property is selling for.. because it was annual.

but the thing is those are the properties he pulled off the websites. i have found many others. i have found ones for 20K biannual etc but he failed to mention those..

yes there are ones that are overpriced people trying to get their money back or make some.. but those are NOT The ones i'd buy resale..

gimme a break! :)

Why even deal with him? My response to his initial phone call would be "no means no" and to "have a nice day".

No TS salesman will ever be able to match the resale market on an established property.

we aren't

we aren't dealing w/ him we already told him NO. he is the one that CALLED us back and left a message we did NOT talk to him..

the only deal is , if he were to be lower than a resale which from what i read here will never happen. so no worries let him waste his time.

Hi Rose,

Typed my message quickly, in re-reading it, it may have come off as sounding sharp, wasn't my intent.

My real meaning was that many people are just super nice, polite people and they then have difficulty dealing with these sharks.

Sometimes that's the first step towards their being victimized and I really hate seeing anyone end up in that position. Probably a function of my humble upbringing.

Congrats on rescinding!

John

I think "shark" is a great word. It's not the same industry, but it certainly is the same attitude: I lump TS sales people into the same category as debt collectors and religious zealot doorbell ringers. Sometimes you just CAN'T be polite.

A bridge too far...

I most definitely would not put people who share their religion...even if it is door-to-door...in the same category as timeshare salesmen and debt collectors.

No TS salesman will ever be able to match the resale market on an established property.

Unless that salesman specializes in "pre-owned timeshares"

I have bought two timeshares (and sold two) from licensed timeshare brokers and the process was smooth and fair.
