I have convention coming up in March 08 and am considering booking a week at one of the "Palms" which I understand to be adjacent the Orlando World Center Marriott which is where the convention is to be held. Question is: Which of the Palms is closest to the hotel proper? is it walkable? I have looked at the maps on the review site and can see Imperial and Royal but can't tell where Sabal is. Any one who can advise? I would appreciate......

They had a major expansion of the convention center there recently. So I am unsure just how walkable it may be -- largely because of the construction activity.

Go here first: (Then click resort view - your computer will PDF the Sabal Palms resort map.- print it) (Must be signed in to the MVCI website)

https://www.my-vacationclub.com/resort/features.do?resort=sa

Then enter this into your google search engine:

8805 World Center Drive, 32821

Click google maps and then HYBIRD and zoom in a bit. You will be able to find the Sabel Palm section just NE of the Hotel. It is in the Hawks area golf course. Use the resort map you ran off to center in on the Sabel area. It is not big, but looks more like a circled group of buildings.

People on the tug review sites indicate it is a very short walk to the hotel. The MAR website says construction ought to be done by Nov 07.....but plan on consttuction.

Sabel Palms ( and all the Palms) are older. Sable is a group of two story apartment types with no elevators. People warn noise travels easily through the floors. Recommend you stay upstairs if you don't want to hear people over your head.

All the Palms are still highly rated. Sabel is noted to be rather quiet. Most walk over to use the hotels pools....

The Orlando World Center Marriott is a pretty nice place for a convention, but the prices of food and drinks is pretty high there. I remember a hot dog and soda was about $15.

The pool there is very large....enjoy.

I stayed at Sable Palms last December. It is directly behind the Convention Center. My grandson and I walked to the Pool at the Convention Center a few times during our stay. You can walk through a back gate (to the pool area) or you can enter the Convention Center by the rear door of the hotel. The resort provides a shuttle to get you around to the Convention Center, Royal and Imperial Palms. I had no problems what so ever and enjoyed my stay.

Sabal Palms is the closest to the convention center and about a 10 minute walk. The only problem I encountered: there is no continuous sidewalk from Sabal Palm to the Convention Center entrance. You walk on the sidewalk on one side of the street, cross the street, walk in the street for a bit then walk in front of the truck entrance to the World Center, and then get on another sidewalk. You have to watch the truck and car traffic, but it is do-able. We stayed at Sabal Palms for a convention for the past 2 years - and construction was going on last year. It really wasn't a big deal. The new convention center is supposed to be finish soon. I did take the shuttle once from the World Center to Sabal Palms and that worked out okay. The best part of the week was using an AC and paying only $299 for the week!!

Good luck and have fun!
