The infamous owner update - do you go?

I went for first time ever at Christmas Mountain, have checked in several times every summer, been asked, said no.
Went in today. They pulled up an account with my name, but it wasn’t me. Couldn’t find my account.
Couldn’t believe I never came in before. He said the body snatchers get $50 for every one they send. Said I could come every day. Never did the speil. Could not find my account. Let me go home. $200 Visa card

I should add that when I checked in, the receptionist asked where Ronald was and I said he was deceased. She marked it in the records. That other Rapmarks is going to have trouble checking in next time.

Yes we go occasionally depending on our itinerary and what they are offering. We won’t go for less than $150 plus, and I always tell them that I bought all my timeshares on eBay. I usually stop all their conversations about points, trading, etc by telling them we are retired, happy with what we own, don’t plan to convert or add any new ones and have been to NY City, Caribbean, CA, AZ , etc. with trades. One time we were out in 20 minutes and one time I knew so much about RCI and trading that the manager offered me a job!!

I am going on Labor Day and it is my first time to attend a Hilton presentation
I have been to dozens of Marriott presentations and own Marriott
Mainly going to learn first hand what I have read and heard on TUG about Hilton timeshares
I will be wearing my TUG t shirt and hat
Looking forward to their reaction to my TUG plug
My my experience today Labor Day was interesting to say the least.

I laid a small umbrella on the presentation table along with some confirmation papers that I brought with me and my TUG hat which were all folded up and on the side out of focus of the sales agent
During the main presentation

The real interesting part, I did not discover till after it was all over and i got up to leave to go collect my presentation gift of 80,000 Hilton points (Hilton deal also included 3 nights in Orlando.) As I was gathering up my things I noticed a crinkled up $20 bill ! And it was damp next to my dry umbrella and hidden under my documents?????

I know I don’t carry my money that way. So what happened how did a $20 bill get there?

That is the most interesting part of this presentation. Here is what I think happened
After the main sales pitch, our sales man gets up from the oval presentation table to get the manager and leaves the room. He brings back the sales manager who sits across from us and the sales man kinda crouches with some papers he has been making his presentation with at my left side on the other side of my documents and umbrella

So did the salesman slip me a $20 bill for some nice things I said about him to the salesman slip manager? Or did he accidentally leave a crumpled wet $20 bill next to my dry umbrella while fiddling with his sales documents???

I would be interested in other Tuggers opinions on this experience.

Since the original salesman was long gone after the presentation as the closing pitch for short term vacation offer followed after the hard sell had failed the time elapsed was to great to chase the original salesman down to bring up the $20 bill on the table

During the presentation focused mainly on the differences between the Marriott program and there are a few positives for Hilton. No dynamic pricing
And the vacation package offered at the end uses time share points and lots more properties and was attractive and competitive priced for properties offered

Many years ago my home resort in Florida asked me to attend an owners update for a $75 USD "gift" for attending. I agreed and went for the free breakfast and then along came the sales rep. After introductions, and before the sales pitch started, I came right out and said "before we get started I will tell you right now, I am a member of the Timeshare Users Group". The look on the sales reps face was priceless. He went right to offering me an explorer package. When I said "I was not interested" he went to get his manager. Waited about 10 minutes and then same thing from the manager, he tried to get me to at least buy an explorer package, same answer "no". At that point he just signed off on the cash compensation and I was in and outa there in 30 minutes. I have never been asked to attend another owners update ever since! Thanks TUG!!!
