I’m an MVC owner staying at Crystal Shores on Marco Island and noticed that The Charter Club next door is HGVC. Does anyone have an opinion on this place and would it be hard to get into if I entertained the idea of purchasing into HGVC? Thank you.

Check to see if they have any resale listings at the office, will be easy if you own there.

Its not so easy using HGV points, mostly owners using their weeks, very little comes up for club point owners and you have to check often.

Have stayed at the Charter Club a couple of times in recent years, and really enjoy it there. However, you'll need a lot of luck to get in, as openings are scarce. Persistence and flexibility will be your best chance.

I own a fixed week there and use it almost every year and from our experiences there, so do most other owners as we see the same people at the resort every year. Without owning at that location, it can be very difficult to get a specific date, but if you are flexible on your dates openings do come up, mostly in the 60-30 days out time period.

I’ve stayed at Charter and enjoyed it as well. I got mine via an RCI exchange. The resale lady is Jeanne I believe. She would be able to help you out. Charter is broken up into a lot of different segments. Fixed, Float and Flex. You can get Flex weeks for almost nothing.

Charter Club has had a pretty good board and maintained the resort well for it's age. It's hard to trade into Charter Club and much easier if you buy a week. Season is hard to get if you don't have your week during the winter/early spring time. All units are two bedroom units and sleep six. I just sold a Flex week about a year ago for about $1500. Dues run about $1200 per year. Flex weeks will get you summer early fall (hurricane season), late spring. We moved to Marco because we enjoyed Charter Club and other resorts on the island. Biggest warning? Lock your car doors. Just had six cars stolen last weekend and 14 broken into during the same time. Mostly around South Barfield area.

What would early May be considered for season? Surprised to hear about the break-ins! Seems like a quiet safe place, at least staying at Crystal Shores.
