The Best Audio Books of All Time Might Actually Have You Hoping For a Traffic Jam
By Megan Beauchamp/ Entertainment/ MyDomaine/ mydomaine.com

"As anyone whose commute is longer than 20 minutes can attest, podcasts are game changers for passing the time productively. While I'd never dream of unsubscribing from This American Life, I'm always looking for new ways to make the most of my commute. Enter audiobooks. Offering hours of entertainment, these narrated novels are so good that I've actually found myself hoping for traffic jams on numerous occasions. Yes, really.

Ranging from classic bookshelf staples such as The Handmaid's Tale and To Kill a Mockingbird to modern memoirs such as Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? and Hunger, these audiobooks are must-listens. Convinced to queue up a book on tape to make the most of your commute tomorrow morning? Keep scrolling to download the best audiobooks of all time (in this writer's humble opinion) to get started. Trust me, you'll be hooked.

The Nix
Written by Nathan Hill
Narrated by Ari Fliakos

While Nathan Hill's novel about the complicated relationship between an aspiring writer and his estranged mother is a must-read in its own right, it was also named the best audiobook of 2016 by Audible. Narrator Ari Fliakos nails the balance between heart and humor in his performance.

Length: 21 hours and 50 minutes....."

I listened to the whole Harry Potter series back to back to back a few years ago. I never minded traffic then. :D

Thanks for the list.

We use audiobooks on our trips. I don't think I could do it in a commute situation as traffic takes too much of my attention. On trips though it works well for us. This list contains a lot of biographies which is our favorite while driving. Again that is attention thing. If you miss a few moments it doesn't seem to hurt the experience. We have listened to a couple of these.

Others I would add

Born a Crime Trevor Noah our favorite of all we have had
forget name........Sonya Sotomayor's autobiography.
same Have listened to a few by Michael J Fox
Hello Vodka this is Chelsea Chelsea Handler

they are probably in order of preference

Based upon your list you may like My Own Words - Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I didn't know much about her before I listened to the book but she is a fascinating person.

Luckily for me, I have a 30 min commute with very little traffic (I am going opposite traffic). But sometimes I have to re-listen. Sometimes it's traffic or just needing to stay on my toes (my brain just stops paying attention to the book) and sometimes I have other things on my mind and I can go 10 miles and realize that I am not listening at all. I just back the book up to the point where I remember and start over again next time that I am in the car. Also it helps me to bookmark the audio book when I get in the car - that way I have an easy starting point if I need to re-listen.

I bet I would. I enjoyed the CNN documentary on her.
