I liked all those soft serve ice cream spots. LOL

For anyone traveling down I-95 south, there is a great little soft serve spot off the World Golf Village exit in St. Augustine. Twisted Turtle Creamery has vanilla and chocolate ice cream and will also make strawberry upon request. The ice cream is good but the ingredients and toppings are what puts Twisted Turtle a step above. The daughter of the owners is a trained chef. She created the various sundaes, shakes, ice cream sandwiches, etc. and sources only the best ingredients. The Toshi cherries are the best cherries I’ve ever had. They bake their own turtle cookies used for the ice cream sandwiches The cookies are delicious and the ice cream is thick. Fortunately, or unfortunately for my waistline, I live not too far away and I usually get enough to take home and put in the freezer.

I love salted caramel and asked if she could make a salted caramel shake although it wasn’t on the menu. She started mixing sea salt and caramel together until it was just right, added the soft serve, mixed and, voila! I had a great shake!

Ohh Thanks @Rolltydr It sounds amazing! We will be adding The Twisted Turtle to our 'to visit' list when we drive up that way to Costco or a little further to the American Legion at Ponte Vedra this fall.

I havent visited too many soft serve spots but so far Costco, especially our Orillia ON location, is my favorite. The ice cream is so thick and creamy compared to most of the others I have tried.

I’ve never been a big fan of soft serve but I love this place. I love ice cream and my favorite is rich, creamy and I used to like it pretty hard. I’ve changed in that regard. There is a Coldstone at Murabella but I rarely go there now. Mayday is probably my favorite around here and, fortunately, there isn’t one near where we live. :D

When you go to Twisted Turtle, don’t let the appearance of the old strip mall bother you. There is now a post office facility at one end, several empty spaces in the middle and then some restaurants and other business on the end with Twisted Turtle. It can almost look like an abandoned mall when there aren’t many people there. If you’re looking for a good place to eat, Cafe Cairano which is next door is very good. We like to go there on Sundays for brunch.

We love Twistee Treat near Disney World, but only one of the stores is consistently good with good portions, and that is the one in front of Winn Dixie and next to Cypress Pointe.

To be honest, I still really enjoy Dairy Queen. They have a small stand near me that has been there since I was a child. We used to go there after our little league games, so perhaps these memories make it taste even better.

IDK about best in America, but there's a little roadside stand in Candor, NY that's been extremely well liked for like 50 years.

Its ok to name it...for those that my like to find it in their travels
It's so small IDK if it has a name, it's the only ice cream place in the town - on the second highway (NY 96B) that goes through the tiny town. Back when I was a kid it was called the Hi-Way Dairy Bar, but it may have changed the name in the last 20 years. We just call it the "ice cream store".

Does anyone remember the 'Mr Softee' ice cream trucks? Their ice cream probably tasted better because they came to your neighborhood.

The music from those trucks are forever embedded in my brain!

My favorite is Creamy Freeze, located in Commerce Twp in Michigan. They have the best soft serve custard and they make the most unique and enjoyable ice cream treats.
