If you are planning to drive between Eastern Idaho and Jackson Hole (Teton Park) Wyoming, plan on a detour. This may take some time to repair. . . .

Google maps has the detour already mapped out. It has the road marked closed and the detour south via Alpine!

Is this road paved? I am guessing no?

Grizzly Bear Migration! Oh MY!

And to answer my question. No it clearly states dirt road!

The Grassy Lake Road connects Flagg Ranch to Ashton, Idaho. Folllow the road from the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway into adjoining US Forest Service land. Please use caution on this dirt road. High clearance vehicles are recommended, and the road is closed for grizzly bear migration until June 1. Sections of the road may open later depending on conditions.

We are traveling to Island Park, Idaho, in August. We are flying to Idaho Falls, and driving to Island Park. Is that route going to be impacted? (Dumb question, I know, but we've never been to this area.)

Nope. You'll simply take US 20 directly from IF airport. Easy-peasy. It's possible there will be a skosh more traffic because Teton Pass may or may not have a repair by then, but you'll be fine.

PS. Hwy US 20 is 4 lane divided- but not controlled access as far as Ashton then good wide 2 lane clear to W. Yellowstone. Your turnoff is 2 mi. after Mack's Inn bridge over Henry's Fork. You can get enough groceries to get by right at your turnoff. Small supermarket, Sam Patch. Has gas, pizza, some produce/frozen & fishing tackle. There are bigger stores in West.
