Hi all;

We are off to the Grand Mayan in NV. What is the approximate cost for a taxi? or the best way to get to Nuevo Vallarta.

Any good tips when staying at the Grand Mayan in NV?

REcommendations of tourist stuff to do in NV?

Thanks to all for help...

Marilyn

Contact Grand Mayan in Nuevo by E-mail to receive your complimentary taxi from airport.

Wear comfortable flip flops or sandalls because this is a hugh resort and every thing is on the other side of where ever your not.

If your not an owner or guest of an owner you will get a mountain view which is most likly the parking garage. To get a better room you will have to let the person who will invite you to a TS presentation know that you want an ocean view as well as the $200.00 room credit , massage and a few free drinks.

The free shuttle is for owners only. Guest of an owner may be able to ride free. You will have to call. Taxi to GM from Airport is about $22.00. If you cross the over pass the Taxi is $16.00. We rented a car from Avis and burned 3 tanks of gas goofing around.

The adult pool is on the south end of the resort. Drinks are expensive. The beach is gravel at the low water line so swiming shoes would be handy if you plan on swimming in the bay.

Have Fun

As you can see, Bill didn't care for the GM

The GM is a medium sized resort comprised of 4 buildings on about 6 acres, over half of which is pool and other amenities.
The Grupo Mayan Complex is huge, when you include the Mayan Palace to your left and the 2 whole ownership beach condos and the Sea Garden to your right.
But you can walk the entire length of these combined resorts in about 10 minutes.

The shuttle is for all guests, no just owners, please email them at the address I furnished.

All resorts in Mexico have moderately expensive drinks, the GM or MP are no higher than the others, and their selection of restaurants is great, Sea food on the beach, grand buffet, Italian foods, Taco Stand or the Sea garden.

Have a great trip,

Greg

Hey Greg , the Grand Mayan was nice. But......

Once you get lost and then find your way around the maze of the swiming pools you may wonder, wasnt I just over there ??

If your staying at the GM you can use the facilities at the Mayan Palace and the Sea Garden giving the option of hanging out in some cool places. I liked over by the south end of the property under the palm trees the best. There is a train that you can ride from building 3 to the south end of the property. You can also take the boat, which is kind of fun. Or you can walk, once you figure out where everything is.

From the front entry of the GM to building 3, you will have to walk 200 yds. Even farther if your in building 4. So dont forget any thing in your room. How ever, from room #3817 the view is spectacular.

The GM is a hugh concrete building with out the character or charm of most resorts we stay in. Its also the biggest that we ever have visited. So, even though its not my favorite, I have to admit that I had a great time.

Places to see..

If you have a car you can drive to some really cool places. Bucerias, Saulita, Punta de Mita, San Fransico, Los Ayala and Las Varas are to the north of the Grand Mayan. Puerto Vallarta , Mismaloya and a couple of other cities are south of the Grand Mayan. Tequilla disteries are just up the road from about 5miles past Mismaloya on MEX 200. If you drive to PV you can park in the public garage on the south end of the Malacon.

If your looking for nite life the clubs in PV suck. Every one was just sitting around looking at the walls. Not at all like Cabo. There is a place not far from the Grand Mayan called Bucerias Gardens. This is a live band playing country rock. People here are dancing and having a great time.

Las Varas and Los Ayala are farther north and have the best souvineer shops.

Bucerias is the small town near Nuevo.

Punta de Mita is for fishing or golf.

Sayulita is a surfing town with cool shops.

San Fransico is a clean place to have a beach dinner and watch the sun set.

PV is allright at dusk and evening time. The Malecon is to hot durring the day and evening is when many people head down. The Romantic Zone sucks.

Missaloya Beach is where the river enters the ocean. A few beach restaurants. Nothing to special.

North of Missaloya are some Tequilla Disteries. Dont waste your money on a tequilla tour. You can drive up and get free shots at all of them. See how they make Tequilla and you will start drinking something else, but after a few shots, who cares. If your driving be carefull of the mini shot as they can add up.
