Target and Costco open at Kapolei

For those staying at Koolina in the future, the new Costco and Hawaii's first Target store is open at the Kapolei Commons.

Yes. The Costco sells gas.

The Target is actually not open yet and will open this Saturday, March 7th.

There will also be an Office Max, Ross and Sports Authority in the same complex as Target.

Disney has also broken ground on their new resort at Ko'Olina.

Kapolei is 5 minutes (about 5 miles) away on the freeway. You leave the Ko'Olina Resort, get on the freeway heading back to Honolulu and exit at the first exit, Kapolei. Don't get off at the first stop light, wait for a freeway exit.

I bought a unit at KoOlina last summer. When I took the tour, I told them I had stayed there 1.5 yrs earlier - at the earlier visit, the sales rep told me that a full shopping complex/mall, as well as a Costco, would open up near KoOlina. However, last summer, the agent could not account for any new such type of development nearby.

Now, the Costco and Target are opening up. The question is whether there are plans to develop a full shopping mall nearby (in the near future) as well?

There were plans to build a mall about the size of Ala Moana out in Kapolei. There were also plans to build a 400K square foot production studio in Kapolei which was supposed to be the biggest outside of Southern Cal in the US. It's been about 18 months since I last heard anything on those projects, so I don't know if they're still currently in the works or if the economy deep sixed them. They were big news in the local paper here when they were announced.

We don't have a Super Target here in Sacramento but they sell a lot of groceries. You could definitely make a meal between all the dry goods and frozen foods.

I don't know if the one near Ko'Olina will be a Super Target or not.

Just returned from the Salt Lake Target and it was very busy! Parking lot was closed because it was full and we had to park on the street

This Target did have some groceries items: drinks, milk, frozen goods, canned goods, chips, bread, some fruits ( bananas, pineapple ) etc.

Will post on the Koolina Target end of March.

The official grand opening of the Kapolei Commons Target is today (Sunday, March 8). The store is 159,431 square feet. It's a regular Target, not a SuperTarget.

In Honolulu, the Salt Lake Target also has its official grand opening today. At 216,512 square feet, it's larger than the Kaplei Commons store, but it's not a SuperTarget either.

Target does carry a decent variety of grocery items that you could get by without going to Safeway. Tons of snack and drink items ( including alcohol) milk, oj, frozen foods such as pizza, lasagna, etc., bread items, prepackaged fruits such as strawberries, grapes, yogurts, sandwich meats, dry goods, canned goods, etc. Basically only thing I didn't see was the fresh meat, poultry, seafood.

Hi!

We're headed to Kapolei in June, and always go to the Waipio Costco. We buy fresh fish and meats there - I am guessing they have fresh meats at the new Kapolei one? Their quality is always very good, I think.

I am so glad for this new one!
