We are booked into the Wyndham in Taos coming up in July. I was asked, and have now received emails about protecting the points. I think it’s $64. Does anyone buy this? I think it only covers the last two weeks before you check in, correct?
Also, how is the Wyndham Taos? Nice place? I think we are in a studio..

Deleted as I had some erroneous information and Jan has posted all the correct info below.

Points protection cost is based on the number of points you use for a reservation. You can buy it up until 11:59pm ET on the last day to cancel a reservation with no penalty. So 15 days before the day of check in. If you have it you can cancel the reservation up to 11:59pm on the day of check in and get all your points back. There are a number of good reasons to take it especially when you can wait until that last 15 days to consider any factors. Like the weather at certain times of year in the area you are leaving or going to, the number of points for the reservation, the health of elderly family members, if someone going on the vacation has a chronic health issue, etc.

$49 for 200,000 points and under
$69 for 200,001-300,000
$99 for 300,001 and up.

Thank you! I can’t find any recent reviews of the Wyndham in Taos. Does anyone here have likes, dislikes they’d share?
Thx

We were there, Oct 2018. The location is great. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping. We were in a first floor 1br unit.. Cozy, clean and up to WorldMark/Wyndham standards. We had a kitchenette which worked for us. There is a full (and very large) common kitchen for the entire facility. Walked past it several times and never saw it being used. While the rooms did not have a laundry, there was a full bank of free (and newer) machines. Lots to do and see in this area. Kit Carson house, Martinez Hacienda, and the Pueblos are all local to Taos and are worth visiting. We did a day trip circle around the Taos Ski valley that included a few stops as we passed through Red River (good eats here) and Angel Fire. We did also went up into the Rio Grande Gorge area and found the Hot Springs. We did not get up to do the Cumbras and Toltec Scenic Railway, so we will be going back at some point. Lots of other things to see between Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos, Las Vegas NM. Have fun!!!!

Thank you! I’ve spent very little time in New Mexico. (Other than a trip to Philmont Scout camp with the BoyScouts, fun but not too touristy).

You can find lots of reviews by looking for the Worldmark Taos online. We go every year. Great location and setup of condos - one of the nicest places to stay in Taos (not including cabin rentals). The one bedroom is a great size and typically has two bathrooms, nice kitchen and living area. The studio is small with a mini kitchen and Murphy bed. Michael's for breakfast and lunch is across the street, downtown area nearby.

I’ll try Worldmark. Thanks
I think we are in a studio.. Oh well, we will see about a Murphy bed.

We were considering a stay here in March but could not make our logistics work out. Having said that, I will be curious to read your impressions of WT and somewhere in the distance I can hear Tugbrian whispering please post a review!

FWIW: If you read reviews of Wyndham Taos on the Worldmark board, please keep in mind that IF Taos has several different villages, reviews you read on the Worldmark board may be for different areas you stay in. This is another way of saying that while Wyndham and Worldmark may both have accommodations at a particular resort/area, they may be entirely different villages (and therefore, quality of accommodation). A good example of this is at Wyndham Pagosa Springs - where the village your reservation is assigned to makes a world of difference.

My wife and I are going for a week in mid-March to Wyndham Taos. We're looking forward to it very much. I'll try to remember to post something about it.
