Please help me to make a right decision. I am too new to use the right abbreviations, but I did read all intro info.
Sheraton Vistana Village is a mandatory resort (right?) and Lakeside Terrase in not. I am looking into resale purchase.
If I buy SVV (red- weeks 7-17, 23-34, 51-52; 81000 StarOptions) will I be able to exchange it (occasionaly) for Lakeside Terrase in same weeks?
How about other weeks (not indicated on SVV contract)?
How would you, experienced TUGers, resolve this dilema? (rent?)
Thanks in advance.

The original sections of VV are mandatory...the newest ones are not. 81000 options will get you into Lakeside Terrace in summer and spring and fall. It will not get you there in the winter for ski season. The lakeside terrace is all 2br. 81000 options will get you a 1br at SMV (right next to lakeside terrace) in ski season.

Lakeside requires 129800 star options in weeks 1-15 & 48-52 so you will be unable to exchange into there during those weeks. 21-39 are 67100 options and 16-20 & 40-47 are 37000 so you should have no problem getting those weeks at the 8 month mark.

If you buy svv with 81000 options Then you will be able to trade into any of the other starwood resorts . but you must wate untill the eight month out period. 81000 op will get you into all starwood resorts. But keep in mind it may not get you the date you want I am new at this also . Hope it helps you a little Good luck

There is a Staroption Chart posted in the Owner Resources Sticky at the top of the board where you can see the Staroption "cost," of all resorts in the SVN.

Also, remember that at 8 mos. you are competing with all other interested owners for an exchange. Week 51 and 52 at a ski resort are going to be very popular, and owners probably use or rent these weeks, so there may be little availability. Exchanges are not guaranteed, so if you want to use a ski week regularly, you should buy a ski week.

For the most satisfaction with timesharing - buy resale and buy where and when you want to go.

i own at SVV and i just got wporv in hawaii for the equivalent staroptions to rent out. i used another svv to get a week at the harborside which i also rented out. just because you own at svv doesn't mean you are stuck there or can't get other exchanges within the svn system.
