All,

I searched for a thread where TUGgers rated the different Starwood properties based on their II trading power. I think LisaRex took a stab at grading them A-C and then others commented (I think it was Lisa).

I couldn't find the thread, and I was curious if TUGgers could comment on the trader power of a 1BR at Bella. I have a Platinum and I have a Gold, both purchased for their StarOptions, and curious if either would have any trading power to speak of (particularly if the Gold has any trading value).

I don't really have a trade in mind, with the most likely candidates being a trade into WPORV or a hypothetical trade into WPoipu or WCabo.

Any opinions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Best,

Greg

There was recently a contentious thread on this subject: http://tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230520

IMHO, the bigger question is whether Starwood will ever resume its previous policy of large bulk banks into Interval; in the past year or so, they have dried up completely. Without those bulk banks, Starwood to Starwood trading is not what it was.

Of course, if you are doing StarOption trades rather than Interval trades, it is not as problematic, although we are seeing diminished StarOption availability for properties in Hawaii, probably a result of Starwood's fairly new policy permitting StarOptions to be banked.

Robert, these are good points.

With Marriott, we no longer see weeks bulk banked early, and instead they are deposited into II 60-90 days before check-in. It's just different, and the early exchanges are truly owner-to-owner. I think they have to deposit some WCabo and WPoipu because they will have excess quantities in the early years of sales, and I hope there will be some bulk banks.

Interesting times in Starwood land.

Best,

Greg

Starwood's recent bulk bank (see Sightings/Distressed) is consistent with what we have been seeing Marriott do for the past couple of years -- deposits 30-90 days out.

Call me cynical, but I think Starwood won't be depositing Cabo or Poipu into Interval; they will save them for Starwood or FlexOption use. I hope I am wrong.

Yes, interesting times -- especially the link in Rob's post above.

I don't think it was me, Greg. Or if it was, I have no memory of it!

However, I'm willing to try and do a test run of what I see with my Bella platinum week if anyone else wants to coordinate a date and time.

For what it's worth, the 1 bedroom platinum svv has traded very well and saw all previous bulk wkorv/n deposits. However, the gold week was horrible and saw only severe off season deposits. Of course past results are not indicative of future reruns, but hope that helps.

Lisa, you are a genius.

I can run my own trade power experiment since I have both a Platinum and Gold. Can't believe I didn't think of that.

Will report back. Thx!
