Hi all! :hi:

We are planning to go to Hawaii in 2009. We had not started planning yet, but a threed on another board me thinking about our planned trip. We want to go in June of 2009, around the last two weeks of the month. I have a couple questions for planning that maybe you all can answer.

First, what are the chances of getting a 2 bedroom with our Kierland optioins? If no 2 bedrooms are available, what are the chances of getting two 1 bedrooms for the same week? Would I be better off trading a Disney (DVC) unit direct with an owner? Or should I just rent out our Kierland or DVC units and pay cash?

I know its two years out, but in timeshare world that's good...right?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I believe that it would be very difficult for you to trade into WKORV and WPORV in late June 2009 using StarOptions. I believe that these weeks will be booked up from owners during the 12-8 month window. I might be wrong because of all the extra inventory with the WKORVN opening but with that comes all new owners too.

For prime time like late June, I think that the best choice would be to do a direct exchange. If you can find a reliable person and have equivalent properties, you can retain owner benefits such as perhaps an ocean view. Next best might be renting. There are lots of rentals available at the Westin Maui and, though it's relatively expensive, when you compare the rental rates to the annual MF you should be able to get a reasonable rental. That is especially true if you rent close to the time of your trip. SVN would be OK but there may or may not be availability. II would really be tough with your best chances coming close to the time of your trip. Even if an owner at the Westin Maui deposits their week, Westin does not have to put that week in the II system and usually deposits a lower demand Westin week.

I've read that Hawaii is not as difficult to exchange to as St. John and Harborside using staroptions. So I'm guessing it's possible esp with WKORVN and the Princeville resort opening (soon?).

We exchanged a Vistana Villages week eight months out for a June 3rd arrival at WKORV...no issues at all getting the reservation. We leave tomorrow, after a great week!

My husband and I are planning to exchange to Hawaii for our 20th anniv on June 3, 2009 :) 'Can't wait ... we're also owners at Vistana Villages ...

I think early June is very doable. Late June may be more difficult, because all the schools will be out by then. I have a friend who owns WKORV-N. Because her resort wasn't open yet, she booked WKORV for mid-June in a 2 bedroom! She called first thing, 8 months out. She was willing to book a 1 bedroom and a studio separately, and was pleasantly surprised to get the whole 2-bedroom.

That said, with all the new units opening up, you may not have any problem at all!

Thanks for the replyies!

We had no problem this past year getting Harborside at the 8 month mark. We do think that with Princeville opening in 2008 that with 3 resorts to trade into will definately help our chances.

We are going to take out chances and try at the 8 month mark. We'll still have three other options to fall back onto, direct trade with using either our Westin or Disney units, renting our units and using cash or using II.

We are hoping for a 2 bedroom, but two 1 bedrooms work just as great for us.
