i just received an update on this property. they have not broken ground yet. the gov't there is taking its sweet time with all the paper work. they sent me a copy of the floorplans. will have to get my son to send over to this site because i don'yt know how!!!!.
they should start selling in september or october of 2007. occupancy will not happen till 2009 at the earliest.this is my guess.:whoopie:

I would not post my e-mail address like you just did. A couple of days ago I got some spam claiming that they got my address from TUG (complete with a tug2.net URL) and asking for help transferring money to a a US account. I notified TUG about it but never heard anything from TUG. I don't post my address, but somehow it figured it out.

I use this address for my rental Ads, so it's already out there. I get some spam, but it is easy to spot, and I just delete it.
 
Here is the updated Aruba info. from pointsjunkie. It looks like they scanned a brochure and sent it to her, so the quality isn't the best, but you can still see it for the most part. THANKS, pointsjunkie!!!!

i am waitng for pre-construction prices to come out. the guy said they will not be out until sept-oct. i am on their anxious list, so they will inform me as soon as its available.
 
Where is Westin Aruba? Is it near Orangestad or Palm Beach? Is the beach area nice at the new resort?

I'm not familiar with Aruba, but there is a map on the picture I posted.
 
it is on the same strip as the marriott surf club and all the others. the marriott and the westin will be bookends.all the other hotels and timeshares are in the middle of that long boardwalk.

It's on Palm Beach and used to be the Wyndham Hotel, between the Radisson and Divi Aruba Phoenix. :hi: :banana: :)

Did you see the info. that I posted that pointjunkie received? It's rather hard to read, but there's some good info. there.
 
Yes I did, it was very useful. My calls to SVO were to see if anything else had been released but more importantly to make sure I was on their email list for pricing when they come out. If their pre-build prices are anything like Surf Club's (allowing for inflation naturally) then I would be very very interested....I have my doubts though.
 
It never ceases to amaze me how unresponsive the Sales Dept is. I can't count the number of times I've entered one of their contests, checked off what I'm interested in and NEVER heard from them again!

Now how I'd run my business. Then again, they're much more successful than I am!
 
We were at the Surf Club for thanksgiving last year. This was before the switch over to Westin. The Westin hotel is still going to be there and they are building a timeshare development. The hotel we saw was a dump (they had a long ways to go before i would claim westin quality), but we befriended a tour guide there and he showed us the construction of the new sales office and other areas.

There is also a massive development of the RIU Palace Aruba (formely the Aruba Grand) right next door . I guess they shut down the place for 2 years to practically rebuild the entire resort. I am almost positive that the Westin is to the right when looking at the picture of the RIU.

After talking to him, this development could take a while. Aruba development is at the pace of whatever the workers want rather than a timeline.

Edit- Oh and its a LONG walk to Surf Club and Westin on the high rise portion of Palm Beach. The Surf Club end is much quieter as it is bordered to the north by a company that rents the Jetskis, Windsurfing, etc and then private residences.

I absolutely agree! When I was trying to determine whether to buy from Marriott or Starwood Maui, I clicked on the button to talk to a sales rep immediately. The phone rang right away...with a msg informing me that all salesmen were busy and would contact me later. No one ever contacted me.

I also filled out a request for information form back in March. I have yet to receive any brochures.

Turning away warm leads, with cash in hand, is bad business. In the meantime, I did buy from SVO. Resale. (Thanks, TUGgers!)
