Strange Availability Calendar @ Moab

I have been trying to get a night or two in early October, but the calendar shows zero availability for the next two months at the Moab resort until the third week of October. Usually even if a resort is very popular, there are single nights available here and there. Is there some sort of events in town, or just extremely popular during the season? or being blocked off for whatever reason?

It is odd that there are not at least some single, "broken" nights here or there, but it is a very popular time of year and owners might scoop up anything they can find, like West Yellowstone in the summer.

Maybe pure coincidence, but there is no availability at WM Moab through RCI until the last week of October.

There is a history of incomplete WM Moab availability through the website, but that is for months and months into the future. The solution is simple, call Vacation Planning 800-457-0103; if they cannot see any inventory until the end of October, then it is not there, or they may have some information on any kind of "inventory block" for some kind of remediation.

That's why I found it strange. Usually there are last minute cancels for the next month or so, but there's nothing available for August or September.

Last week I called to fix another reservation, I asked them whether they can see any availability for Moab. They found one night in the third week of October that I couldn't see on my end of the calendar, but the date didn't work for me. Maybe I should keep calling, and also ask them if they have information about any possible inventory block.

Well, there it is. The WM website is completely untrustworthy for available inventory.

Keep calling in on a daily basis. You will have an advantage over those who rely on only the inferior WM website.

Put in a waitlist request. You’ll have 48 hours to accept if they match something to you first

That's a good idea too. I haven't been able to put in a waitlist request online since the website update a while ago, totally forgot such thing exits. But I just tried and was able to. I guess some of the functions are slowly coming back

So I called again today. The rep told me there's no block, the resort is just very full and nothing is available until almost November. And yet, availability is wide open on Booking.com for October. Makes me wonder, how much is available for owners to book.

I saw the last week of October available in a two bed at Moab. It looked like plenty of availability in November too. Are these not reserve-able ?

Utah school districts all have their fall breaks covering most of October among the districts. Moab is very popular that time of year because the weather is pretty much perfect. They definitely messed up the seasons for this one.

I think the first available date is 10/26 and they are reservable. I needed something early October. I have been checking the last couple of weeks, and nothing, not even single nights, was available for the next two months at any given time I checked. That made me think there may be a block in inventory.

I ended up tracking bookable dates during the last two weeks or so and observed that the earliest available date is always two months from any given date I checked. For example, when on 9/5, the earliest available date was for 11/5, 9/6 for 11/6, 9/9 for 11/9, etc.

On 9/5, I called WM about availabilities in October, and again was told they were fully booked and there was no inventory until 11/5. I asked if they can submit a ticket to inquire about the missing inventory within the next two months, or anything that was preventing owners from booking dates within the next two months, they said they won't do it as there was no discrepancy between the inventory they saw on their end and my end. But I don't really quite believe that the resort was fully booked for every single day within the timeframe, as I saw there were 9 available unit types with multiple types of studios and two bedrooms all had 4-7 units each available for 11/5 when checking on 9/5, but when checking on 9/6, nothing is available for 11/5. Same thing for 11/6, checked on 9/6, 9 types of units were available, but one day later, nothing.

I honestly do not care to book anything anymore, just getting rather annoyed and want to vent. It looks to me that WM just took them offline instead of someone all of a sudden booked them all up at exactly two months out every single day. I mean, maybe there is a good reason to do that, such as for better cancellation terms? Otherwise where could that inventory have gone?"

Who knows?

Moab is a WorldMark "Associate Resort", which means nothing has been deeded over to WorldMark the Club. That means Wyndham can do whatever they want with the Moab availability at any time; i.e., there is no obligation for dates within 60 days, or whatever timeframe, appear for booking in WorldMark.
