We are replacing our 23-year old one-piece Caloric Prestige Series double gas oven. The upper gas oven still works, but the lower one will not come on.
My husband has relit the pilot twice. First time worked fine, but second time,
the baking was taking much too long and there was a pronounced gas odor,
so I figure it is probably not worth repairing, although replacing it will necessitate a bit of a remodel due to the fact that it will need to be replaced by a lower gas oven and upper microwave, leaving a stretch of wall space that
will have to be dealt with.
We have decided on an LG 30" gas oven for the lower, but cannot seem to find a microwave/convection combination oven that will work. Having gotten used to having the second oven, I am afraid that I would be unhappy with just
a microwave (and we already have a countertop one). The ones we've seen either have only a turntable (no flat rack), no convection, bad reviews, or have handles that are too dissimilar to the LG lower oven.
Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
