I have an exchange into Grand Chateau next week. We invited friends, who will be arriving around 11:00 a.m., while we will be arriving at 1:00 p.m. Chances are we won't be able to check in until 4 anyway, but would I need to purchase a guest certificate in order for them to store their luggage at Grand Chateau so they do some walking around or have lunch while they wait for us? They don't want to wait at the airport because they said they arrive in a different terminal than we do (1 vs 3) and there are no restaurants outside the security area (they will be checking luggage). I found 2 restaurants outside the security area of terminal 1 (Wendy's and Jimmy Johns) and a bar but I guess that's not what they had in mind.

I don't think they check ID when you give bags to bell services. You just give them your name. They could perhaps just give your name when they turn over the bags. They can just tell bell services that they are going to go and grab something to eat and then return to checkin. When you arrive and checkin, tell them you have additional bags with bell services.

I wouldn't buy a GC for that. You won't get ID'd leaving a bag at bell services. Tell them to give the person who takes the bags your name and a tip and they won't have an issue.

Have my friends give the person who takes the bags MY name? or THEIR name? Does it matter?

Have them give your name. Though it probably doesn't matter.

I agree, just in case they look it up. Never had a bellman ask for ID at any hotel. Give them $5 and there will be no issue regardless.

They should say something like,

"Hi we have a reservation under the name, "NboroGirl" we're just dropping bags now and will be back to complete our check-in later"

The bellman gives them a claim tag, your friends give him a tip. This is honestly not something I'd be worried about at all.
