I have read and read and read.....still confused!

I can pull a 3BR at Phase I (only one date) and several dates for a 2BR at Phase II........I understand that Phase I has no elevators. I believe the furniture has been updated at Phase I. Still, do not understand which has nicer grounds and is more convenient....or doesn't it really matter, I or II?

The Pointe is only showing one week for me while the Villas gives me more choices....plus I do not need a 3BR....just something nice. I'm getting the impression that the Villas is nice but the Pointe is a weeeeee bit nicer.
Maybe I should just stop reading!

Am I correct....neither has any type of maid service? Towel exchange?

Thanks for any advice.

It's one big area with two resorts

The two resorts sit side by side - physically the amount of open space and shared amenities is greater at CPR (Phase 1) while the elevators in the buildings are unique to CPGV (Phase 2). The design of CPR is such that the common areas basically ring the resort. The Clubhouse and Volcano pool are there on one side, the ponds and gazebo on another, the forever wild area on a third and CPGV on the fourth side. CPGV was designed so the buildings surround the common features - the two pools, the mini golf and the store. Only the basket ball and tennis courts are outside the center courtyard. CPR hosts the Game room, Exercise Room, Gift Shop and front desk. CPGV has the Activities center and a small convenience store.

The units are the big difference. The layout of CPGV allows for a mini-kitchen in the lockout 3rd bedroom that CPR doesn't have. But the furnishing, appliances and entertainment equipment at CPR was all new in 2005. CPGV has updated some of that but not the full unit as CPR did. Because of that the units are "fresher" at CPR despite the buildings being older. Both are nice, all the common areas are available to all guests so really its a choice of which unit is available and or which you prefer.

I actually prefer the grounds and units at CPR as it seems more like a resort. I've stayed at CPGV and it felt more like an apartment complex (quieter) but that appeals to some. And of course you can cross the street and be in the action at the Clubhouse even if you stay at CPGV (which it seemed we did - alot) so we decided we're better off just booking into CPR and crossing over to CPGV when we want a different pool or the mini-golf. It's almost 6 of one half dozen of the other. CPR is a Gold Crown while CPGV is Silver Crown so guests do see a difference in the unit quality I assume.

Phase II Is Outstanding. Ditto Phase I.

Still, do not understand which has nicer grounds and is more convenient.
Everybody staying at Phase I or Phase II gets to use all the grounds, facilities, club house, exercise room, pools, mini-golf, etc., at Phase I & II. As a practical matter for folks staying there, Phase I & Phase II are pretty much like 1 combined resort.

Grounds are beautifully landscaped on both sides of the street. Phase II may have a slight edge because the buildings are ringed around the landscaped central mini-golf & pools area (2 pools), with all parking outside the ring of condo buildings, while Phase I has parking lots all over. But Phase I has the 1 & only Volcano Pool.

Click here for an earlier TUG-BBS entry that includes a diagram of the Phase I & Phase II grounds, which are literally right across the street from each other. And being that near to each other, both share the same super-convenient Orlando FL location.

No daily maid service -- but they do a thorough cleana-cleana-cleana before each new check-in. Linen exchange is mox nix -- with washer-dryers in suite (in all the 2- & 3BR villas, Phase I & II), you can wash all the towels & sheets every day if you want. At Phase II, I believe there are also coin-op washer dryers across from the elevators for the use of folks staying in the 1BR suites.

I assume you're trying to decide which, if either, to exchange into. I think everything I would have to say has already been very well stated by John and Alan, but I would like to reinforce two points:

1) As mentioned, Cypress Pointe Resort (CPR) and Cypress Pointe Grand Villas (CPGV) are two different, albeit neighboring, resorts.

2) If traveling with a person who must have an elevator, you'll definitely want CPGV, as CPR has no elevators. Outside of that, pick whichever location has the size and date you desire, and enjoy your vacation.

Both resorts are literally an Albert Pujols homerun from a grocery store, a liquor store (very important when traveling with family), and several restaurants, including Papa Johns - my favorite carryout pizza.

A tip: Pick up carryout menus from several of the nearby restaurants (there are over 30 of them within a mile), and keep them in your vehicle. Then, if you go to the amusement parks and don't feel like cooking in the evening, but also don't feel like dealing with a tired family while waiting for a table at a rush hour madhouse, call the restaurant of your choice as you leave the park and place your order. Hop in, pick it up, carry the feast back to your luxurious trappings at CPR or CPGV, and enjoy!! It's just that easy!!

Onward and upward,

Mark

Both resorts are outstanding and all posts written are very accurate.

Both resorts are very close to Disney, Sea World, Universal and everything in central Orlando.

Enjoy your week !!

Unless stairs are an issue or the limited check-in date creates a problem, I would personally choose the 3BR at CPR. Even if you don't need that third bedroom, it's great to have a big spacious unit to relax in. We routinely book 3BR units (sometimes even larger) for our family of three. We love the extra space. :) And, as I mentioned in an earlier thread, the 2005 complete overhaul of CPR is a plus for us.

I know you've been considering several different resorts (Vistana, Summer Bay Resort and Houses, VVP, CPR, CPGV). If you're still on the lookout, you might also add to your wish list the following very nice Disney area RCI properties:

Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Seaworld
Hilton Grand Vacations Club at International Drive
Orange Lake's River Island
Orange Lake's West Village (we personally will book only 3BR units there)
Fairfield's Bonnet Creek
