If I buy a 2 bdrm lockout EOY at the westin maui (resale) can I lock out the unit and get two consecutive weeks like marriot ? (Live on east coast important) Also when using the internal trade (SVN network) can I lockout the unit and for example use the 1 bdrm for a week in aruba and the studio for a week in orlando. Finally it sounds like the internal trade operates like DVC. (i.e. exclusive time period to reserve your home timeshare and then an open period to reserve anything in the network) Am I understanding this right ? Thank-you in advance for your help.

Yes, you will be making two separate reservations, a week apart, but it should be quite doable as long as you're making the reservations 12 mos. out.

Yes, assuming there's availability at those resorts as 8 mos. out. And, actually, the StarOptions you would have available from the Maui studio (67,100), should be enough to book a 2 bedroom unit in Orlando.

Finally it sounds like the internal trade operates like DVC. (i.e. exclusive time period to reserve your home timeshare and then an open period to reserve anything in the network) Am I understanding this right ? Thank-you in advance for your help.

Yes, you can reserve at your home resort between 12-8 mos. out; beginning at 8 mos. out, you can try for other resorts in SVN.

Here is a TUG advice article on Starwood in case you haven't seen it yet:

Best of luck!

Looks like you have a good grasp of the system.
