Starwood - Nevada

I would appreciate it if anyone could help me out here...I live in Nevada and when I contacted Starwood about getting a vacation package to Hawaii to visit the Villas-North on Maui they said they weren't 'licensed' in Nevada and couldn't offer me anything...Any ideas how I could 'inexpensively' visit the villas before I decide to purchase??? (resale of course thanks to all the advice of you Tuggers out there)...

Hmmm, do the Am Ex promotions have the same limitation on visiting? I thought for those you just need a card to go.... Katherine

I believe it has to due with the timeshare laws in Nevada.

I had the same issue when I was trying to buy into Disney Vacation Club in Florida from California. At the time Saratoga Springs Resort in Florida was for sale but I couldn't buy it because it wasn't register to sell in California. I had to buy a different resort in Florida. Eventually, they did register SSR but long after I purchased at Beach Club Villas.

BCV is so much nicer than SSR IMHO that you benefited from that little limitation!

Did you see this link to the AMEX/Starwood offer for Kauai? I think WKORVN is close to sold out, so there may not be an offer right now?

Only resales now??? Which I guess is OK...but why can you get book a room at WKORV directly thru Starwood and not at the North property???

You can book rooms at north directly through Starwood. They just lump them all under WKORV on their website. (Listing them separately would undoubtedly cause needless confusion as the average renter is not knowledgeable about the differences between the two sites.)

However, once renters get to the part where you select your room, they do distinguish between the two properties. Here's an example of 2 listings for the same date (bolding mine):

Prem Ocean View Studio North, Heavenly Bed And Bath, Whirlpool, Kitchenette, Non-smoking

2 Double Beds + Queen Sofa Bed Oceanview
