Hi - I've seen the old mandatory list, but since there are a couple of new properties, does anyone have an updated mandatory list?

Starwood hasn't built a mandatory resort since WKORV-N opened. I don't think they plan to build any new mandatory resorts. It's a sales point - they can say that you only get Staroptions with a developer purchase.

This iist is not correct - these are not all mandatory resorts. A mandatory resort has Staroptions on a resale. There are only 5 mandatory resorts.

Sheraton Broadway Plantation - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Sheraton Desert Oasis - Scottsdale, Arizona
Sheraton Mountain Vista - Avon, Colorado
Sheraton PGA Vacation Resort, Port St. Lucie, Florida
Sheraton Vistana Resort * - Orlando, Florida

Sheraton Vistana Villages - Orlando, Florida
The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas + North - Maui, Hawaii

The Westin Mission Hills Resort & Villas - Rancho Mirage, California
The Westin St. John Resort & Villas - St. John, USVI
Harborside Resort - Paradise Island, The Bahamas
Lakeside Terrace - Avon, Colorado
The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas, Kauai, Hawaii
The Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort, Cancun, Mexico

The list in the Starwood FAQ is correct.:

* Harborside at Atlantis
* Vistana Villages (Bella and Key West phases only)
* Westin St. John (Virgin Grand - Hillside only)
* Westin Ka'anapali & Westin Ka'anapali-North
* Westin Kierland Villas

Hi Denise,

Do ALL of the true Mandatory resorts ALWAYS include Star Options as a resale? Can owners actually opt out of paying for the SVN membership and give up Star Options?

Some of the ads that I see on websites will say N/A on the point value of properties that are Mandatory. It could be the confusion about Star Points not transferring but I want to be sure that the Mandatory property we are purchasing will include Star Options.

I will also check with SVN but it is so hard to speak to someone who is truly knowledgeable. I searched and read on TUG but could not find a definitive answer. Thanks again!

all mandatory resorts come with staroptions. buying resale you do not get the option to convert to starpoints.

Yes, always.

Membership in SVN is mandatory. Hence the designation. You cannot opt-out.
You can choose to not participate, but you will pay SVN member dues annually.
