Starpoints from amx card spend on timeshare purchase

Hi,

Can anyone on the board clarify this for me? I am a gold SPG member (I bought direct from starwood), should I get one, two or three points for every dollar I charged towards purchasing timeshare from starwood?

the only wat you will recieve double starpoints from a purchase is if you use your starwood american express card. purchase anything starwood and you will receove double from the card.

Did more digging on the benefits. This is a paragraph from starcentral web sites on the gold member benefits:

Apply for the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express. Even groceries and dry cleaning add up to free hotel nights. Earn one point for every eligible dollar you spend using your card. And it just keeps adding up. As a Gold Preferred Guest, you earn 3 points per dollar, plus an additional point per dollar when you use the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express. You can earn a total of four points per dollar when you pay for your hotel stay using your card.

I may read it wrong, but it seems that you get 3 points as a gold member from that paragraph. Too good to be true.

buying a starwood timeshare does not count as staying at one of their hotels. so you will only get 2 starpoints /$ if you use your starwood amex card to purchase the TS. i have done it 4 times and that is the way it goes.

do you have the starwood amex card? if not get it before your purchase the TS. i have a great site that will give you 25000 staroptions instead of the normal 10000.

What is the site? Also, a minor correction, but I'm sure you meant "starpoints" above instead of "staroptions."
