I am considering a Vistana resales vs Hyatt, and have good info for Hyatt, but need to understand the SO dynamics. I have read the VISTANA SIGNATURE EXPERIENCES GUIDE & INFORMATION info on the site, but it is outdated, and has a dead link to the subject info. Considering a 2br WKV platinum purchase, but would like to be able to trade internally for a 1Br of longer term at other locations in Hawaii and Mexico regularly (but not every year). Can someone point me to the remoteness updated info? If I do this Saku in the trading period, is this fairly easy to do or very hit and miss. I own Worldmark (pure points) today, and getting into prime location in high season is quite problematic.

Thanks, I read that info, but I still need the staroptions chart to evaluate seasonal options and different units across sites. Will using SO preclude oceanfront or are those just different point values?

You can reserve ocean front with SO's at Vistana's Maui properties (extra points required).

I am curious as to what is outdated with the link in your first post. I helped to revise that a couple of years ago. I can make additional updates if there is something you see as out of date. Not much has changed with Vistana lately.

Edited: I do see a few changes that need made related to SPG, now Bonvoy.

As pointed out more options needed but also much harder to trade into OF at the 8 month mark due to there being fewer of them and the fact that they are in high demand and good rentals so owners take up the inventory more readily. They do often pop up at the 60-65 day mark as owners cancel and release them back.

I'm still fuzzy about a few things. If I have 148.1K SO points, and use 95.7K, with the balance rolling over into the next year, would I then be able to use the combination to reserve something starting 8 months from arrival (?or my original week?) that used the combined points, such as the 3BR Cancun oceanfront lockoff? How many years can these points accumulate over?

And when does the time start clicking - 12 months before my rolling float week? And does that week advance by one year each year?

Thanks so much for all the help!

For traditional purchases the only thing you can book 12-9 months in advance is your ownership. Any residual SO that you roll over (must be done by 7/1 unless you are 3/4/5 Star Elite) are no longer available that year but can be used in the subsequent 2 years at 8 months (in conjunction with any other ownership options or rolled over options) before they expire.
