Thinking of staying at the rebranded Westin in St Thomas. Where do people eat and is it safe at night ? TIA

It's safe but I wouldn't be hanging around Charlotte Amalie downtown after dark. At least off the main drag. We like Oceana in French Town, Virgillio's ( the Osso Bucco alla Milanse is to die for) Charlotte Amalie, The Old Stone Farmhouse, and Lanai at Limetree.

First, the Westin is not re-branded unless you are referring to the Hyatt St. John which has been a long time ago. St. John is not like any of the other American Virgins, it is safe 24/7 and the restaurants are all wonderful, but like anywhere else it depends on your taste. You are lucky to experience one of best vacation experiences you will ever experience St . John USVI.

There is actually a re-branded Westin on St Thomas - the Westin Frenchman's Reef, which is a hotel rather than a timeshare next to the Marriott Frenchman's Cove. It was previously a Marriott. I'm not sure if it's open yet but this rebranding just happened.

I just booked a one-night stay for next February! (Prior to our one week on St John.) Looking forward to checking it out.

STT is safe so long as your staying in the main tourist areas/grocery stores, and don't go out looking to buy mj. So many places to eat out depends on what your looking for. Rent a car and explore the island, they drive on the left which isn't as bad as some think. You do need to be mindful when driving on the left and have a copilot reading a map and reminding the driver 'left'.

Have heard for years if you go to Virgillio's at night take a taxi, it's downtown. In the day time we walk all over the main downtown area, love Palm Passage
