DH just told me that he and his buddy have decided to go skiing for spring break (mid-March) 2013.

Do you have any recommendations for a place you can go skiing at that time of year? We have Wyndham points and Silverleaf; I have 42 TPU currently on deposit with RCI.

We live in St. Louis, Missouri. I would prefer somewhere they can drive to, but they are talking about Colorado.

Ignoring your driving preference I would suggest Colorado, Utah or Lake Tahoe. All locations can have decent skiing well into April. Of course, it all depends on the kind of winter they had. Some of those places open up around Thanksgiving so if you can wait until mid-late December 2012 you may be able to get a good feel for which location is getting decent snow.

The last few springs in in Steamboat have been epic. Projections for this year also look good. March is also typically is one of the heaviest months for snowfall but predicting that far in advance is chancy at best.

Cheers

Mid-March wouldn't actually be considered "spring" skiing in Colorado, Utah or Tahoe, but high season, i.e. when the snow is best and demand is at its highest. The Wyndham properties in Steamboat Springs and Durango would be excellent choices, as would the Taos and Angel Fire properties in New Mexico (be aware that snow is a little iffier in New Mexico and Taos is more of an expert's mountain).

I'd get on it right away, though, because it is a very high demand season.

RCI Availability might be greatest at Lake Tahoe - there are a lot of timeshare units there!! Funtime
