We are Marriott owners and like alot of others, have had a pending request for Spring break for a year now at 3 locations - all within driving distance. Yesterday I got a call from Interval for Williamsburg Plantation. Almost took it, except extra fee was mentioned since we are not owners there. Also vague on specific ammenities on unit-only one bed in second bedrm and limited kitchen. Read the reviews here and decided not to take it. Since we have always stuck with Marriott, was not aware of the extra fee. Thinking we may drive to Bush Gardens for the day with the kids and pay for 2 nights at one of the Marriott hotels there. Not really what I had planned, since we put in our request a year ago!

I'm sorry that your request hasn't been confirmed yet. What are you using to exchange with? What 3 resorts have you requested? Others have also reported that after almost a year, they are still waiting for an exchange.

We were fortunate to get all of our requests. I wonder if our weeks were confirmed so quickly because we used request first for all of our exchanges. Although we enrolled all of our weeks in the DC prior to our exchanges being confirmed, we did not use points.

We deposited a one bedrm at MGC for MFC,MOW,and MB. These are all driving distances, because we can't afford to pay the air for a last minute notice to other destinations. I know these are popular resorts and this is a popular week, but have never had a problem in the past. What is a family to do with kids in school, when all you can travel is summer or Spring break! Timeshares are great for retireees or those with flexible schedules. We were very fortunate to snag a 3 bedrm at Marriott Lakeshore for the 4th with our studio. The things presentations never tell you!

Which week is your Spring break? What locations you requested? Ours is the week prior to Easter Sunday. I usually found reasonable availability on the east coast for our spring break. It seems like more people want to fly out for Spring Break in my area. It is harder to get reasonable airfare.

You are probably right, unless something comes in at the last minute. I did try to use our lockoff also to make it a 2 bedrm trade but Interval said I couldn't do it. I bet they used our unit during Nascar week in Vegas! My husband has been there before we bought ,and that was one of the few times it was hard to find a place to stay inside the city.

If you want to improve your chances for a successful exchange, expand the search to include all HHI Marriotts as well as non-Marriotts. Also, use the entire 2 br for a request. As you know, scour II as well as the TUG sighting board for exchange opportunities.

I don't think yo should be too upset at not getting the trade you wanted.
You did very well in getting a 3 bdr unit with the studio side.

As to why you have had luck in the past, but not now is because the game has changed.
Alot of people are thinking just as you are, lets drive rather than fly. The downturn in the economy has changes alot of things.

I've decided to look at the brighter side and be thankful for the great trade I got over the 4th. Even though I'm still hoping for a last minute exchange into MMC for my platinum one bedrm, I have a backup plan. There was a 2 bedrm villa available at MMC through the resort itself that I got for a Fri-Mon. We live an hour away and Virginia is offering 2 for 1 admission to Bush Gardens for residents. The grandkids will love it and the Resort offers so much for them. We'll still have another vacation to look forward to if the exchange doesn't come through this time. Life is good!

Which resort are you referring to for MFC since you are talking about drive to locations? MFC is the abbreviation for Marriott Frenchman's Cove on St. Thomas in US Virgin Islands.
