Thinking about doing a Baltimore, Washington DC or Norfolk Harbor Cruise during the summer and was wondering if anyone here has been
on a Spirit Cruise.

What city did you leave from ? What ship did you go on ?
Do they offer Complimentary Parking or Discount Coupons

I personally have never been, but know many people who have taken the Spirit of Norfolk - and ALL loved it!!

For our local middle school that is (was?) the major field trip of the year for the "graduating" 8th graders, all seemed to really enjoy the trip. Both my daughters went and still talk about it - and they are now 19 and 24. They both remember their strawberry (virgin) daiquiris, and still have the souveneer glasses from the Spirit.

I will get there myself someday :)

I've been on Spirit out of Norfolk, VA

Many people in the area love it. I did it the first time with my husband and mother-in-law about 25 years ago. But having lived in the area all my life, I've seen it all before and this no longer interests me in any way.

My husband's employer takes 10 year employees on this cruise each year and management goes along with their spouses. I believe the employees really enjoy this. I went year before last to support DH, but I didn't go last year because I can't wait for the boat to get back to the dock because I'm bored to tears.

I wouldn't do it out of another City just because I don't enjoy this kind of thing anymore. Put me on a small and intimate sailing yacht and that would interest me.

If you think you would enjoy seeing the sites of a particular city's waterfront, and like dancing, and non-intimate dining, etc., I think you would enjoy it. It's just no my thing.

I have been on the Spirit Cruise in Washington, DC for the lunch cruise. The food was average at best. I do know many people that really have enjoyed the dinner cruise. My favorite is the Dandy Restaurant Cruise in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. I love the food. I haven't been on the Spirit of Baltimore yet even though I visit the Inner Harbor in Baltimore quite frequently.

I have done DC and Balto cruises. I can't recall the company. The cruises are very pleasant. At the Balto inner harbor you can make a day of it by enjoying a cruise and the harbor all in one convenient location. If you like baseball you can also see the Orioles play a better team (every team is a better team except the NATS) at Camden Yard which is very closeby. As I recall, the Potomac cruises are basically the cruise and you will have to travel elsewhere for other entertainment.

If I were coming in from out of town I would get a nice hotel by the inner harbor (weekend rates), catch a ballgame, see a show at the hippodrome, enjoy the shopping, food, and atmosphere at the inner harbor, go to the acquarium, and catch a cruise.

I will say this much, try not to purchase cruise tickets without a coupon. There are discounts for these cruises all over the place! If you have it, look in your entertainment coupon book or look for coupons online.

I've done the Spirit out of DC and Baltimore and also the Dandy. It's pretty decent with average food and good staff. Also look into the Odyssey Cruises out of DC. It's a step up from the Spirit cruises and Dandy cruises.

The Spirit, Dandy and Odyssey cruises all leave from the same place in DC. Parking isn't free but if I remember correctly it was minimal.

I've also done the Spirit of Norfolk. I noticed a good looking young man talking to Kelli and all of a sudden she was gone!! The show started and there was Kelli in a short leopard dress & a blond Tina Turner wig. She did a version of Tina's Proud Mary. They asked her if she needed words and said NO! I know this one. I have never laughed so hard in my life!!! shaggy

Now that would have made a Spirit Cruise really fun for me!
