Did anyone else get the email regarding special pricing for current WSJ owners? I'm curious, but can't get the link to open.

The Westin St. John Resort & Villas invites you to own more time in paradise starting September 30, 2009 with the release of specially priced ownership weeks while inventory lasts.

As an Owner who looks forward to seeing the turquoise-blue waters and white-sand beaches of St. John year after year, you are invited to own more time in paradise with specially priced vacation ownership weeks from The Westin St. John Resort & Villas.

In addition to exclusive pricing on some of the resort's most desirable vacation ownership weeks, The Westin St. John Resort & Villas will be providing valued Owners with a new, never-before-offered purchase incentive.

Don't delay. Specially priced vacation ownership weeks will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while inventory lasts, so for best selection, choose your week today.

I took one for the TUG team and called SVO about the St. John deal. They are emailing me a full price list that compares the old and new pricing on all phases and all seasons.

Here are the three data points they gave me over the phone:

Bay Vista Phase (Voluntary) 2 BR Plat Plus (Float)
Old Price: $69,995
New Price: $49,895 (with 200,000 StarPoint incentive)
10% surcharge to make a float week fixed.

Bay Vista Phase (Voluntary) 3 BR Plat Plus (Float)
Old Price: (Didn’t Give)
New Price: $64,950 for one week or $108,000 for two weeks (with 200,000 StarPoint incentive per week)
10% surchage to make a float week fixed.

Virgin Grand Phase (Mandatory), 3 BR Villa with private pool, Week 12 (Fixed)
Old Price $109,000
New Price: $104,495 (with 150,000 StarPoint incentive).

According to the sales rep, these deals could end at ANY TIME, so hurry, hurry, hurry!!!

(I’ll upload the full price list when/if I get it).

Way to take one for the team nodge! Hank-tay ou-yay ery-vay uch-may.

I pulled out my pricing sheet from May:

Bay Vista Phase (Voluntary) 2 BR Plat Plus (Float)
Old Price: $69,995 -- AGREES
New Price: $49,895 (with 200,000 StarPoint incentive) -- That's a big drop -- 28%
10% surcharge to make a float week fixed.

Bay Vista Phase (Voluntary) 3 BR Plat Plus (Float)
Old Price: (Didn’t Give) -- I had $84995
New Price: $64,950 for one week or $108,000 for two weeks (with 200,000 StarPoint incentive per week) -- 24% for one week, 36% for two weeks (assuming no discount for 2 weeks before,
10% surchage to make a float week fixed.

Virgin Grand Phase (Mandatory), 3 BR Villa with private pool, Week 12 (Fixed)
Old Price $109,000
New Price: $104,495 (with 150,000 StarPoint incentive).

Hmmmmmm ... I have $85995 as the price for weeks 5-12

Ou're-yay Elcome-May!

This discrepancy may explain why the email I just got from SVO included a 32 page fancy-pants brochure on WSJ, including tons of pix, a site map, villa layouts, StarOption charts, but not a single price anywhere.

Instead, the sales rep just listed the three prices quoted above in her email (despite promising to email me a full pricelist for all phases, villas, and seasons). I guess she needs more time to white-out the pricing for the 3BR pool villas.

I just followed up with the sales rep. She says that I'm supposed to figure out what I want from the brochure and THEN she'll look up specific availability/pricing for that specific phase/villa/season.

So much for SVO effectively using us to get the word out for 'em. Which is too bad for SVO because according to this survey, a little over a third of us here on TUG (granted some of whom may be SVO corporate lurkers who probably aren't interested in buying a new SVO timeshare) don't think SVO is run by a bunch of self-centered numb nuts (well at least no more self-centered numb nutty than the people running other timeshare companies). So, presumably that third of us (less the SVO corporate lurkers that if I had to guess how many there were in the survey I'd guess there were "6" right now based on my mathematical modeling and review of the results) would actually be interested in this type of data.
