My cousin has invited us to visit. She lives on S. Padre Island. My sister would prefer to stay at a TS rather than at her house. Which resort would you recommend? What is there to do in the area?

We were in South Pardre last year and stayed at Royal Beach and Tennis Club. My choice at the time was Royal Beach or Inverness. We chosed Royal Beach because the pools and grounds were nicer. But Inverness got hit by Hurricane Dolly during the summer and was closed down so I guess I made the right choice. Inverness has remodeled most of the units.

Thanks for the pics. I think there is availability at Royale Beach for when we want to go.

When are you planning to go. We were there in September, had a 2 bedroom. It was very quiet and sometimes had the pool to ourselves. Kids were back in school...was nice. I would like to go back. That is when I can get in the pools again. Also I did a review on Royal Beach last year.

We stayed at the Inverness...it is on the north side of the island. It did get hit by Hurricane Dolly last year and no apparent damage was visible. It is an older resort, but it was clean and comfortable for us. We had a 1 bedroom with a sofa bed in living.. enough space for 4 of us. Request the 10th floor for great views of the beach from your spacious balcony. What time will you visit S. Padre Island?

I guess I posted while you were too. October has Sand Castle Days. Beautiful sand sculptures and hopefully the water will still be warm enough for you to enjoy a swim. Weather will probably still be in the high 80s.. rare to get a cold front until late November or early December. This is low season at the island so it will be rather quiet. Have a great trip!
