We have a friend who recently found out her parents Marriott timeshare in Hilton Head was never deeded into their trust. The parents did not live in SC and both are now deceased. I believe she will need to do probate for this one week. Does anyone have an attorney or firm they would recommend? Does anyone know the approximate time and/or cost for the probate? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The State Bar Assn. has a lawyer referral service they can try. States all have different rules. I asked my (atty) wife, and she said she can't prepare a deed for property in another state.

Thank you. We will look into that.

I've used John Wilson for several real estate closings (timeshare and condo) https://www.wilsonlawsc.com/. I don't know if he does probate but if I were in that position, he's who I'd start with. If he doesn't, he could recommend someone. I'd talked to him at one point about putting my timeshares in a trust and he was happy to do so in bulk for those in SC which are most of my MVC resorts.

ETA: his website lists probate.
