I just got this email from a friend:

Some good news!

-China has closed down its last coronavirus hospital. Not enough new cases to support them.

- Doctors in India have been successful in treating Coronavirus. Combination of drugs used: Lopinavir, Retonovir, Oseltamivir along with Chlorphenamine. They are going to suggest same medicine, globally.

- Researchers of the Erasmus Medical Center claim to have found an antibody against coronavirus.

- A 103-year-old Chinese grandmother has made a full recovery from COVID-19 after being treated for 6 days in Wuhan, China.

- Apple reopens all 42 china stores,

- Cleveland Clinic developed a COVID-19 test that gives results in hours, not days.

- Good news from South Korea, where the number of new cases is declining.

- Italy is hit hard, experts say, only because they have the oldest population in Europe.

- 3 Maryland coronavirus patients fully recovered; able to return to everyday life.

- A network of Canadian scientists are making excellent progress in Covid-19 research.

- A San Diego biotech company is developing a Covid-19 vaccine in collaboration with Duke University and National University of Singapore.

- Tulsa County's first positive COVID-19 case has recovered. This individual has had two negative tests, which is the indicator of recovery.

- All 7 patients who were getting treated for at Safdarjung hospital in New Delhi have recovered.

- Plasma from newly recovered patients from Covid -19 can treat others infected by Covid-19.

So it's not ALL bad news. Let's care for each other and stay focused on safety of those most vunerable. ❤❤❤

Sure was good to "hear a little good news today"-- as Anne Murray used to sing.

Yesterday I listened to an interview of man in NYC who caught the virus and is on the better end of recovery. They aren't sharing many stories like that in the media. Why, are they afraid we won't be scared enough to stay home as we are being told?

Malaria and HIV cocktail used in China, S. Korea, India, Australia and for the 32 yr old PA in NJ who had Drs. consult with Chinese Drs. is what seems to be working. Slows virus replication. This is also why it's so important to "flatten the curve" to give time to get treatment plans ramped up.

I don't think that the ONLY reason that Italy was hit hard is that they have the oldest population in Europe. In general Italians are very affectionate and greet each other with cheek kisses and hugs. In the South, very close family and friends end the cheek kisses with a brief lip kiss. For the most part their daily lives involve walking to markets, butchers, bakers, etc. which leads them to spend time in very close quarters with others. Evenings and weekends are often spent in the piazzas socializing with their friends and neighbors. Yes, other Europeans do the same or similar. The Mediterranean diet and the amount of exercise spent on just an ordinary day contributes to those who live this lifestyle living longer. What helps make them live longer also led to a faster spread of the virus and Italy was overwhelmed and unprepared. Had they been able to take drastic steps sooner, those that we now have the opportunity to take, I feel that they would have had a better outcome. But who knew then? We do now! If our naysayers would just get on board, instead of burying their heads in the sand in order to justify the fulfillment of their own desires, hopefully we would all have a better chance of survival.

Yes. Too many are already making excuses to not stay home as being told. It only takes one. Will that be me? You? Others? If you knew it was you, could you live with yourself? I'm not sure I could, or at least never without the very heavy burden of knowledge of my part in it.

Yep, we are headed for stricter lock downs, and it is being earned. I don't get it. Hurts my heart. NYC was warned about that this morning, prepare for lockdown. Other areas clearly need it.

Just saw footage of Clearwater, FL. holy crap, packed with people. It scares me that more than a few of them will be seeing grandma or grandpa soon, and the book doesn't end well.

also reports of "packed" parks, families taking kids, all of them touching monkey bars, etc. There is going to be a lot more needless suffering and it will go on longer due to all this mingling, and we are going to lose a lot more elderly than we would have. The slope is looking steep as people keep ignoring that This Is Happening Here and Now.

Right...we were packed here too. However, today, the streets are eerily reminiscent of awaiting a hurricane...practically empty. Grocery store shelves too if TV reports represent the majority. I only saw three carriage tours out today (though surely there were more on other routes I can't see). One was empty of passengers though the guide/driver was in full uniform...perhaps training or exercising a horse. The other two were full. Four to five rows of three to four people each. That needs to stop.

Saw on the morning news today they were released from the hospital in Australia, and are resting in isolation so as not to spread the virus. So it is looking good for them, although their symptoms were minor, compared to some..
