We had an excellent dinner at Solu in November and used a 'dinner for 2' certificate. My wife and I each had a seafood special and the fish was fresh and well prepared/ presented. The dining room overlooks the beach, although it was too dark to enjoy a view when we were there. Service was excellent and our waiter was very helpful regarding moderately price wine recommendations. I'd have to say this was one of the best meals we have had at a Marriott restaurant, and there appeared to be many locals among the guests. Valet parking is complimentary if you tell them you are eating there. We were also able to charge our meal to our Oceana Palms account.

Our favorite restaurant in the area continues to be Carmine's Trattoria, especially dining outside overlooking the marina. Bonefish Grill has also been excellent and consistent. Even though it is a chain, their seafood is fresher than many of the local restaurants.

Enjoy your trip. We look forward to our next visit in late October.

We ate there 2 weeks ago Also used a Marriott certificate. Had the lobster poached in butter, and a great two-color beet salad - and two desserts that were incredible. We had eaten this same lobster dish at 3030 in Ft. Lauderdale last year - same executive chef. The head chef (Larry) spoke to us before dinner (his family was dining next to us) and then the sous chef also came out. The EXECUTIVE chef spent most of dessert with us - great guy. He is talking about opening another one of these in NYC - near where we live. BTW - the new name for Solu is "3800" - like 3030 in Ft. L. By all means - go, enjoy - we sure did!

Thanks for the update regarding the name change. I'm happy to learn that the food and service are still excellent and they continue to honor the dinner for 2 certificates. I will now order another one for our upcoming trip.

WHOOPS!!!! Not at Ocean Pointe - it was at the Singer Island Resort/Spa! But I think that yes, it used to be Solu - the name was changed. These places are all right up/down the road form each other - I got confused - and nobody jumped in to correct me. Anyway - the restaurant 3800 at the HOTEL we stayed at (used to be a Starwood - so all-condo hotel - nice . . ) was FABULOUS.

I just checked the website of the Singer Island Marriott Resort and Spa (all suite hotel) and 3800 is listed as their seafood restaurant. This is the only restaurant listed that serves dinner, so I assume this previously was Solu. The Singer Island Marriott Resort is located just north of Oceana Palms (about 1 mile north of Ocean Pointe), and previously was a Starwood property. If you used a Marriott dinner for 2 certificate, this is the only Marriott property in the immediate area. Therefore, you were probably correct.

Note: I also recall the excellent beet salad at Solu.

We just got back from a great week at Ocean Pointe. Yes, Solu has been renamed 3800, and while we didn't eat there this time, the reports from others were that it was at least as good as when it was named Solu. If that's true-Wow! We had such a fantastic meal when we last ate there, missing it this time was our only regret of the trip.

If you haven't tried Seasons 52 in Palm Beach Gardens yet, I would also recommend it. We had a great meal there-again!

On the other hand, we have crossed Waterway Cafe off of our list after our second terrible service experience in two tries. An old favorite in the area, but it has seen it's better days!

You are right - communication was confused between Dear Husband and myself ( gee - THAT never happens . . . ). Solu - at the Singer Is. Resort - USED to serve some kind of Floribean cuisine (?), and it closed - to re-open as 3800, which is a sister restaurant to 3030, the in-house restaurant (also great!) at the hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. Whew! Great meals at both. Had the lobster poached (roasted?) in butter at both - and since my family is from New Bedford originally, we know good lobster. We will be at Ocean Pointe next year - and will trundle up the road to 3800 AGAIN for the same dish.
