Wyndham is working out just like I hoped. Since I'm in NC there are a lot of resorts I can go within driving distance saving me airfare.

My first exchange was to the one in Seiverville with the indoor waterpark. It took a lot of points because I could not risk the last minute window but Kelli had a blast and wants to go back.

I've now booked Nashville (my very fav place to go ) I'm doing a promo thanks to Marge so I'm staying on them for 3 days and moving over to the ts on Friday for 4 nights. If I could have done it backwords I'd really have saved some points but since I'm going to TNA fanfest at the Gaylord /across the street it worked out great. Staying some extra days after the convention.

I don't have many points left over but enough that will roll over next year 2013 where I get another 210K points to use.

I have read and read the posts and helpful hints and just want to say thanks for all the help. Don't worry, I won't be buying any more points in Nashville from the rep. I feel sorry for him, but that's ok. At least I'm not paying for loding (other than the points which I pay monthly so it's almost painless)

lots of resorts, short stays and monthly payments are all good reasons to choose Wyndham but I dont know what you mean when you say your points will "roll over" Wyndham points expire at the end of your use year

I am glad you are enjoying your Wyndham points. We love ours because of the flexibility. Sure, Wyndham has done some things that we don't care for, but overall, we are content owners.

I paid an extra $39 to make them last 3 years as I knew I couldn't use them all in 2011. I have an odd eoy and when I got this I had already almost planned 2011.. There may be a better term than rollover but I don't know what it's called. shaggy

That's putting your points in the Points Credit Pool.

I roll all my points into the points credit pool every year, except those that I want to use for advanced reservation priority. And I avoid the end of the year "use it or lose it" problem, and I never have any left over, small number of, points to deal with

Can you do that for free? I rolled all my points at one time because I knew I wouldn't use any but I did use 110 K afterall in 2011. Remember, I don't have a gazillion points like you. :) shaggy

But you can pool all same use year points for 1 $39 fee. So if you have multiple contracts you may not have to pay multiple fees.

If that question is directed at me....the fee to deposit points in the points credit pool is $39. It dosent matter how many points you deposit...its the same fee per deposit

I am now working with my 2014 points...I made that deposit in early January...I have been "borrowing" points from future years using the points credit pool, because I dont have a gazillion points... Im buying more this year to try and bring what I own in line with what Im using

If I put my points in the credit pool, can I still remove them to make deposits into my exchange company?

From what I read on the Wyndham site, it looks like I cannot use them for my II deposits. My leftover points after my II deposits are never enough to do much with. I exchange because of XYZs and more locations.
I hate that Wyndham took away my little studio deposits. I had some great flexchanges with my studio deposits and then I could XYZ for $170 and get another week vacation. Now what cost me 28,000 points cost 74,000.
I don't think it would be worth it to pay Wyndham $39 to keep my 20,000 points alive. I wish I could still rent out my extra points, Wyndham took that away also.

I believe you can make a reservation with the pooled points, cancel the reservation so that those points become "cancelled points", and then deposit the cancelled points to the exchange company

BTW
I like my Wyndham points a lot too. I love using them for long weekends. And, the availability and flexibility is great. For example, last year I wanted a reservation for a three bedroom in Orlando with only about four months of advance planning. I own some real cheap TPUs in RCI, but couldn't get anything nice. But, there was plenty of 3 BDs at Bonnet Creek, Reunion and Star Island within the Club Wyndham point system - with all check in days. So I grabbed a 3BD at BC with the exact check-in day that I wanted.

You can get a cheaper reservation with a good RCI trader (low maint fee to TPU ratio), but the availability, unit size and check-in dates are much easier too get with Wyndham points. The RCI trade fees and insurance are also getting annoyingly expensive.

I consider you the guru, you're really helpful. Ok, so I was right I paid one $39 fee. I just don't want to pay RCI to exchange unless I've traveled all I want to the Wyndham facilities. Between that and my ORE?MROP/VRI I've got all I can handle. I unfortunatly can't travel as much as I used to.

I feel the same way about RCI...I really dont like paying my mf and an exchange fee to RCI...I think he best use of Wyndham points is within the Wyndham system...I would only deposit to RCI as a last resort or if I wanted to "trade up" for a special occasion..maybe a trip to NYC

If you want to use all points for II exchange, you can make as many 74K deposits as your points allow. Then, if you have enough leftover points to make it worthwhile you can borrow enough points from the following year to make a 74K, or a little larger, reservation in the express (90 day) window. You can then cancel that reservation and the 74K points become canceled points in the current year and become available for one more deposit for trading. To do it in this manner online takes more than one day and more than one transaction. It can be done in one day with only one transaction on the phone by telling a (knowledgeable) phone rep what you want to do. The rep will first borrow points from the following year to make reservations in the 90 day window for the total number of trading deposits you desire. Then the rep will cancel the reservations and finally make the trading deposits.

I hate that Wyndham took away my little studio deposits. I had some great flexchanges with my studio deposits and then I could XYZ for $170 and get another week vacation. Now what cost me 28,000 points cost 74,000.

The only upside on the 74K deposits are that they will likely pull more than the 28K ones used to. Initial experience of at least one Wyndham/II trader indicates that this is the case.

Thanks hjtug for all the good info. Do you have a nice Wyndham rep that you use. ( I have a favorite II rep who is great ). I haven't made any reservations in Wyndham in the 5 years I have owned. Are you saying you can see more in Flexchange with the 74k deposit? I've made some very good trades with my 28k studios...many Marriotts. I have never used a 1br in Flexchange as I have always had studio deposits. I made my 2011 deposits before the change in points required. I still have 2 deposits left because I had just made my 2010 deposits. We have 1 studio and one 2br left plus 5 more potential XYZs this year. We have 4 weeks booked already. I hate to waste potential vacations.
Have you figured out a way to get to NYC or Boston?
There are not many of us who trade Wyndham in II.

Just for the record I have traded into a couple of Wyndham resorts. I like Wyndham resorts. I can get more vacations by using II. When we first bought we had the sales company book Smoky Mtns for us and last year I traded into Riverside suites, which I highly recommend. As long as XYZs are out there, we will probably trade through II. I only own one week right now, thinking about buying another small contract because of the change in deposit values.
With my one week, I can get at most 2 weeks in 1 brs at Wyndham resorts. I don't even have enough points to go to the beach in SC unless I stay off beach. I can go prime season and stay in a 2 BR at my resort in Pompano Beach but we have not been there yet. I have not ever used all my points for one week. That would be a $1200 week with no potential for a $170 XYZ. Too much for me since I have been spoiled by previous trades.

No, I have done the borrow and cancel thing twice on the phone and each time the rep I got had no problem doing what I requested.

I haven't made any reservations in Wyndham in the 5 years I have owned.

Once we learned how we could stretch our points through II we stopped using them for Wyndham reservations. With 28K deposits we went from one week a year in a one bedroom at Wyndham to four or five weeks a year in multiple bedroom units. With the new 74K deposits we are back to one or two weeks a year but at least we should have the possibility of continuing to get multiple bedroom units.

Are you saying you can see more in Flexchange with the 74k deposit?

We are still working on our last three 28K deposits and have not yet made any 74K deposits. I have played a little with changing the bedrooms in the generic online deposit that shows up in online searches. If you try that I think you will see that sometimes more units will show up with a one bedroom deposit than with a studio deposit. Perhaps try looking at Marriotts that have only two bedroom units. In a thread a while back, another Wyndham II trader reported 74K deposits pulling more than 28K ones

I am hoping that, as Wyndham deposits in II become fewer, the trading power of Wyndham deposits will increase.

Have you figured out a way to get to NYC or Boston?

No. Haven't tried.

There are not many of us who trade Wyndham in II.

That's for sure.

I have seen threads with XYZs discussed but never paid attention since I didn't think they applied to us. Can you tell me how to take advantage?

Thanks
